What's your water drinking schedule?

Recommended Posts

I'm 3 1/2 weeks out from my surgery and I find that I'm having trouble getting all of my required Water in.

For those of you who are super successful in drinking 64oz or more of water per day, I'd love if you shared your schedule of how you manage drinking all of that damn water! Lol

I just started soft foods so it's making it harder for me, time wise, to consume enough water now that I have to incorporate the 30mins before/after food rule.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Some friends of mine have introduced me to this thing called Ulla. It's supposed to help you remember to drink. It goes on your cup or bottle. I've got one ordered but haven't tried it. Maybe you should look into it. I have a hard time getting more than about 20-24 oz in.

My surgeon's office only allows for three meals a day and no Snacks. I start my day with a Protein Shake. I have my first meal and then 30 minutes later start a bottle of Water and don't let myself have my second meal until the water is gone and I have waited at least the half hour. One bottle of water after each meal and an additional four oz get me to my 64 oz by the end of the day.

It gets easier with time.

I drink 3 Vitamin waters a day. They are 20oz each. One 90 minutes after each meal and try to sneak another one in after I work out. And as mentioned above it will get easier .. the first 1-2 months are a mess when it comes to organizing your consumption. Pretty soon you will be a PRO!

I eat every 2-3 hours and I always wait 30 min after a meal. I bring a large 32 oz cup to work and drink all day until right before a meal. I refill the cup at home and finish it after dinner.

I can't wait until I'm a pro! Right now I'm all over the place. I get more than enough Protein just not enough Water. I do eat SF pops and that counts toward fluids but still doesn't get me close to my 64oz goal. I would literally Jane to sip all day [emoji853]

How do you do that sipping? I'm having a hell of a time with one. Al! My liquid is frozen or a broth it's the only way to slow me down to
drink.

I'm many months in...but a tip would be to use gas x strips. They help with that painful gas feeling when you drink.

My schedule is pretty much drinking anytime I'm not eating. Outside of trying to wait 30 minutes after a meal I try to consistently drink through the day. Whether I'm in the car driving to/from work or outside doing yard work I always keep a drink close by. In the early days I'd take a drink in the middle of the night if I woke up to go to the bathroom.

I tend to reuse Powerade bottles filled with Crystal Light since they're easy to track. Since they're 32 oz. if I drink 2 a day then I know I hit my minimum goal.

A friend of mine suggested to drink a bottle of Water the very first thing in the morning when you wake up. I carry my 32oz water bottle everywhere with me and use a lot of crystal light! But I figure as long as I get two of these down a day I'm doing ok [emoji16]

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
