Hello, I'm not quite 5 days post op and am doing pretty well with Water and Protein shakes. I've had a little applesauce and some yogurt, and both went down well. I am on full purées, so I know there is more I am able to eat, but I'm really nervous about trying new things. I was thinking about making Eggface's ricotta bake, but is that going to be too acidic with the Tomato sauce? Does anyone have any suggestions?

When I advanced to purees, I had no problem with the ricotta bake, but I should note that I didn't start on purees until three weeks out.

Tiny, tiny bites. Acid is going to vary from person to person. I've been eating spicy foods and acidic things since my Dr. okayed me for full soft foods 10 days out. No problem.

But if you've had acid issues, it might not be the best choice.

Always smartest to contact your Dr or his team if you're worried.

Today's my first day on pureed foods. I've had two cans of Progresso Soups blended down significantly with beef and chicken broth. It's never tasted so good. Beef Pot Roast and Split Pea & Ham. I added some extra ham from a leftover ham steak to get some extra Protein. Just make sure it's blended smooth, like baby food.

Remember, don't be so quick. We've got a lifetime left to eat. Let your body heal and be good to it while you're doing that.

Oh, I'm definitely not in any hurry to push things. I'm just concerned about my sleeve getting too used to the bland stuff and making it that much harder on me when I am allowed to eat "normal" foods.

Personally I would not add the tomato sauce... too much acid

I was scared to eat early on too. Very scared. I thought I would eat the wrong thing and rip my sleeve.

I think being scared is good. It prevented me from giving I to head hunger.

At first I would take a bite, wait 2 to eat minutes to see how I reacted then eat more.

If you like fish, a soft moist baked fish turns to mush in your mouth. Very easy to eat.

I never tried to ricotta bake. I would think the cheese would balance out the acid

Thanks! I'm so glad not to be the only oddball who is allowed to eat more but doesn't want to. I did end up making the ricotta bake for dinner and was able to eat about 1.5 tablespoons without issue. It felt a little heavy in my sleeve - not uncomfortable, just different. I feel slightly emboldened, so I think I'm going to make some fish tomorrow! (Never thought I'd be this exited about fish, lol!) 😂

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
