Surgery Scheduled for July, Anyone else?

Recommended Posts

It's so nice seeing this thread fill up with more people! Time seems to be going pretty fast but I wish it would go a bit faster lol

I've lost a total of 35-38 pounds I've been just on this side of 200 for about 3 months. It's so frustrating. With as much weight as I've lost on my own I was really wondering if weight loss surgery was really the way I wanted to go. But after this stall and thinking about all the yoyoing i've done over the years I know I'm on the right path.

That's awesome almost 40 pounds on your own! Yes I was thinking the same way about losing it on my own but I lose max 15 pounds and then it comes back with some friends lol. I think wls is the right option for me and sounds like for maybe you too. Wishing you more pre surgery weight loss!

I have one more nutrition appt on May 25, have to get EKG done, then will submit to insurance. Hoping for early July for surgery. I can't wait. I've lost 27 pounds since November but I've been stuck lately. This is when I would normally give up and gain all the weight back. Just waiting on this surgery to help me get past this. Waiting is the hardest!!!! Dreaming about things I'll be able to do after definitely helps though. I'm tired of being where I'm at.

I am scheduled for surgery on July 10th. Originally was scheduled for April but I had to push it back. I'm done with all of my prerequisites for surgery except a chest Xray and my PCP approval. I have to start my pre-op diet at the end of June, although I've already started watching my diet and have lost 20 lbs. I can't wait, but have waited this long, what are a couple more months. Good luck to all of us!
Located in northern NJ.

I am also scheduled for July 10th! I hope the long wait doesn't give me time to get cold feet!

They just let me know for sure that my date is 7/13 (was going to be 7/10). I used to have a lapband. Reason for the change is cuz my surgeon, Dr Nair, wants his partner Dr Boulay as the assist rather than the surgery PA. She said he & Dr Boulanger do this whenever it's a former bandster in case there's extra scar tissue when they get in. If there is, he'll have to convert it to open rather than lap. I'm sure praying that won't be the case.

I AM NOT LOSING. I'm freaking out. I have a nutrition appointment on Tuesday and I'm stuck at four pounds heavier than last visit. I had a Mirena IUD inserted three months ago, and now I'm stuck.

I'm doing full liquids, Protein Shakes and low carbs. I'm freaking out because I'm showing a gain and I'm terrified that insurance will deny me, and this is visit #5. I'm so close!

I'm hoping that kind of thing isn't a deal breaker. I had a slight gain month 4. Im down about 22 pounds overall so I'm hoping a slight fluctuation isn't disqualifying. Weight can be off for so many reasons!

Aloha! My surgery is scheduled for July 3rd period it seems like an eternity! This coming Tuesday, the 23rd of May comma I have my endoscopy and colonoscopy. Hopefully they won't find anything bad in there and now I wait.

My doctor has not said anything about a pre-op diet. The nutritionist I met with did not say anything either. Not sure but I think I should probably do it on my own. At least something. My nutritionist good recommend Premier Protein so I think I will buy some of that now. So happy to have found this group!

I'm down 25 pounds total at today's weigh in. No gain AND I'm below 300!!! YESSSSSSSS!!! I have no one to tell but I'm so excited! One more weigh in visit and then everything will be submitted. I need my mammogram report, nutritionist consult, primary care release, and dermatology (testing for tape allergy). Phiew!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
