Are there any banded (or soon to be banded) quilters?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I love to quilt. Have a few in progress right now. I do machine piecing and quilting. I was going to quilt tonight, in fact, but decided to scope out LBT, because my surgery is getting closer and closer. I have had a problem with quilting lately, though, because my ankles swell so much while I'm sitting at my sewing machine. When you're too fat to quilt, you're too fat!

What kind of quilting do you do? How long have you been doing it?

Lindsey

Hi Lindsey,

I also do machine piecing, but also love to hand applique. In fact, it is my favorite thing to do. (It is nice to just sit in a chair with my feet up! :) ) I have been quilting since 1991. How about you? Have you been banded yet? My date is Oct. 15. It was really nice to hear from you!

Hugs!

I've sewn for a long time -- in fact I have a BS in Home Ec. I started quilting in about 2000.

I'm waiting for a surgery date. I've been getting through all the tests and pre-op stuff, and it's taken months. My date should be in late October, or early November, but I have to prove I've lost the 15 pounds first. I've got 13 down my first week of dieting, and two to go, but no weight loss this week. Sticking with it though.

Boy, you have less than two weeks before the big day. Good luck! I think it's going to be life-changing, don't you?

Hi All,

I am also a quilter and scheduling my surgety for the 19th of December. I have a home hobby machine quilter, and embroidery maching. I love to design my own quilts. Have been in a few craft shows, but without much luck. It is what I do to relax and have fun. Wouldn't it be fun to get together and share all of our stash?

I have completed all of my steps except final meeting with Dr, and to schedule surgery. I am excited to get going. and feel like I am limbo right now.

Look forward to hearing from more of you.

I love to sew and I'm working on my first quilt right now. I mostly sew custom children's clothing. My favorite thing is applique. I used to sell alot on ebay but have been so busy with "real life" stuff that I've slowed it down to a few custom orders from repeat customers. Here's a link to see some of my work.

I love quilting!! I dont have a lot of time to sew currently, but I really enjoy it. I think my favortite part may just be buying the fabric! I have quite a few projects in the works right now. I have only actually finished two quilts completely. I hope to throw myself into quilting this winter. I have finally got my sewing room finished! Been in our house a year, and it is the only room that is finished:) I was so excited to see this thread!! I cant wait to hear more about projects and maybe see some photos:) I am still going through the process. Just had all of my consults yesterday. Now I have to wait for my consult to see the surgeon and go from there. Wait wait wait. That is what I am doing now...It is very difficult for me. Have a wonderful day my fellow quilters:)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
