Today I saw a new lap band doctor as my old one has left and I can no longer see him. Upon describing how I can only eat 2 bites of food at a time, the new doctor agreed to take out some Fluid. I told him last year (October 2015) my old doctor had over 7ccs of fluid in my band. After struggling with the needle for 5 minutes, the new doc finally found my port, but told me there was only 4ccs in there?!? He did not seem concerned whatsoever and told me that no, fluid cannot leak out. He said something that sometimes you just can't get it all? Being a worry wart, I googled why my lapband would be missing fluid when I got home and every link said "leak" "leak" "leak".

Has anyone else had this issue?

The doc did take 1cc out today, but I doubt my old 4ccs would have been giving me this restriction when last year I had 7.....

Are you sure you had 7CC to begin with? When I got mine, I had no idea how much was in my band after surgery - Slimband informed me 1CC was put in there initially and then I've had two fills since - 1 at 1CC and then my second at 2CC and I have a lot of restriction...It takes me nearly 30 minutes to eat a meal. I would think if you are still feeling restriction you must not be leaking?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
