Feeling Your Sleeve 7 Years Later

Recommended Posts

Hi Fellow Sleevers!!

This might seem like an odd topic, but does anyone actually physically feel their sleeve, like you realize its there? For the last couple years I can feel something always there! I was thinking scar tissue since I am so many years post op! It does not hurt by no means, but I know its there and sometimes when I sleep I have to adjust, but nothing major! I was just curious if I am the only one or what everyone's thoughts are :)

Thanks for any Help!!

So funny to find this today. Last night I noticed I was very aware of my stomach/sleeve. I could feel my heart rate there and it seemed like thick there. Just different. No pain. I'm 2 years out and I was curious about this. I'm so glad you posted.

But why? I wonder why you guys are feeling it. There is something about this that made me get a little weak In the knees! Lol.
If anyone finds out why they are suddenly feeling it, please share.

I am glad to hear I am not alone! Hopefully someone will respond to us all with correct reasoning per their doctor! Sometimes its a bother, because I can feel it, I am always aware that it is there. My feeling is on the left side right under my left breast but just slightly left of the heart. I rub it sometimes to make that weird feeling subside, but it never truly does!

Four years out and feel nothing. I never felt anything. Just wish I had more restriction when eating.

When did you notice lessening restriction? What can you eat now than you couldn't before?

Over 3 years out and I feel completely normal. Just some restriction when I eat, but these days that subsides fairly fast, almost as fast as it did pre op. Wish I still had that great restriction like I did the first year or so.

I gained back slowly over the past three years. The first Year I lost. I can eat anything. Now. I am back on shakes. I eat boiled eggs. I eat tuna. We eat lots of salads. We do not eat out. I am back on diets. The surgeon had me work with a life coach. Nothing works. Just bought a treadmill. Oh well I would still do it again.

Ah... the friendly "wife reminder".

In a couple of weeks, I will be 8 years out. I can't feel my sleeve. I still get full really fast. If I eat meat, I am full for hours.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
