Why is everybody telling me I don't need weight loss surgery all I need to do is exercise and control my eating habits. They are really getting on my nerves and making me feel guilty for wanting to do this.

Donna, there will be those that can't understand what we go through, like we never thought of their brilliant insight. It's ok to let them think or say what they want...however, you are doing this for you and not them. Also, it is a tool for long term success and not an overnight miracle cure.

We still need to excercize, we still need to make better food/nutritional choices, surgery just helps us eat less. I think as you move along in this journey, and they see the commitment you are putting forth in this lifestyle change, they will have a greater understanding.

Keep strong, you've got this!

They don't understand.
No one knows what it's like to live in your body.
Personally, if I could do it without surgery I would.
The surgery is only a tool, you still have to make healthy choices and exercise.
The surgery is not a shortcut or a quick fix, it is merely a tool.
Do what is best for you.

My experience is not to tell people cause you will get judged. Obesity is a disease and sometimes as with heart disease surgery is required...some people can treat their disease with diet but sometimes surgery is required to help the body release extra weight. Do what is right for you. You will be eating normal after a year. Take the opportunity to lose the weight in the one year and improve your health.

People can be self centred jerks and have only their best interests in mind. They get jealous. Ignore the haters and if they don't like it- tough luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
