I started this journey 6 months ago. About 2 months ago the Dr told me he would not operate on me because my A1C was 9.8, he said if I manage to get it down to a 8 he will proceed with the operation. I actually told myself I can do this without the surgery so I got on a diet and lost 20lbs and was feeling so much better. The Dr office kept callling me and I kept ignoring it. My PCM sent me for blood work and my A1C came back as 7.9 lol. This was fwd to the Dr and now I was pushed over to scheduling, currently waiting for them to call me with a surgery date.

I realized maybe I should just go ahead with this. I already started to eat right, got my mind in the right place and if I kept with this diet it was only a matter of time until I mess up and gained it all back as always. The fear of the unknown is what made me back out amongst other things but if this can help with my PCOS and type2 diabetes like my Dr told me then I don't see why I keep trying to back out..i just don't want to end up regretting it.

Do what works for you, deep down you have to think and pick the right decision for you! I've had PCOS for almost 10 years now. I'm getting the surgery because I'm sick of working so hard just to step on the scale and not see results, I'm ready for the help and I'm ready to work hard to succeed but I'm accepting that I need help and know that PCOS will clear up. Wish you the best!!

My surgery was in Monday 4.17.17. I am currently home recovering. So yeah I went through with it even though as they rolled me into the operating table I was a nervous wreck. But now I think I made the right choice for my health.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
