Pre-op diet while on cruise!

Recommended Posts

Thought I would research a little before I decide on my date. The date that I want happens to be the week following our cruise in the Bahamas. Will the liquid diet be hard to follow?

I've never been on a cruise so I'm not sure about their liquid options. I would assume there would be plenty of Soups to choose from but I may be wrong. And a plus would be there would be a lot to keep me busy with my kids that week.

I love cruises. What cruise line?. food on cruise ships is plentiful. In the main dining room one of the secrets to cruising is that you can order multiple items from the same course. You want two Soups = no problem. At the buffet of course it is self serve. There should be a beverage station with basic coffee, tea, and Water. They may not have skim or 1% milk. I recall seeing yogurt at the buffet as well. Getting enough Protein with the options on board may be a challenge. I would recommend taking some Protein Powder to add and possibly some shake mix to make your own. It will take some extra focus to avoid the temptations around you. Try and enjoy. Do lots of walking around the ship. Take a refillable water bottle and protein shaker to keep you a you go around the ship and on land.

I'm going on a work trip to Europe the week before my surgery and will be on the pre-op diet. My options will be extremely limited and I'm still trying to figure it out, but I'll make it work.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
