1 week out questions

Recommended Posts

Hello- I'm actually on day 6. I am still in liquids (broth, shake, popsicles, yogurt- that's about it). Wondering when I should start checking progress on scale. I also am wondering about Vitamins. My surgeon told me to focus on the diet and start my Multivitamin. Can anyone share their Vitamin schedule with me-when are you taking Calcium, Biotin, d3, anything else?

Hi, I'm only a 11 days post op, I started my chewable Multivitamin with Iron at 1 week post op, and then I don't start taking my Calcium with Vitamin D till six weeks post op. I seems each doctor has it's on timeline. All my information was in my nutrition class.

Hello,

I'm almost 15 weeks post op. My doctor wanted me to start my Vitamins two weeks pre op so I did. Started taking Celebrate multivitamin with Iron and Celebrate Calcium with Vitamin D. Then the first week after surgery, my doctor told me not to worry about my Vitamins so much, just concentrate on my liquids and Protein. So I didn't resume my vitamins until about a week and a half after surgery.

I take my multi 3 X a day and my Calcium with D 2 X a day.

I started Vitamins on day 3. Multi-V, D, Calcium Citrate, & B12. Also a daily Prilosec to avaid acid reflux.

I don't understand why a Doctor would have anyone wait 6 weeks. I see my NUT soon... I'm going to ask that question.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
