Where Is My Trophy?

Recommended Posts

I Performed a Task that no Human Being should be able to do and now I am looking around for my Trophy. That's right, my Daughters and Son in laws have a Sunday Funday tradition by spending each Sunday having a meal and going to do an activity. Well I am in the liquid Phase of Pre-op and we were running close on time so they chose a Chinese Buffet so we could get in and out fast. I asked for a Water and couple slices of Lemon and watched and enjoyed my family as they ate. Was it hard well yes slightly but so worth it. My kids respect my decision and offered not to go eat but I told them that this is our new reality and that the time spent with them was always what I enjoyed most on these days anyway. Feb 24th is in just a couple of days and I am going to treat my surgery like it is a Vacation and Cross Mexico off of my places I have never been list.

Sounds like you are in such a good place with your decision! I applaud you for your courage and patience. Half of the success is in your head. Attitude, positive thoughts and straight willpower are all what will help make your journey a success. You so got this!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
