Has anyone started juicing post op? I'm interested in juicing if it's cleared by my MD and nut, but curious if anyone has taken it up. I'll be a week post op as of tomorrow so I'm sure it'll be sometime before I am able to.

Hello yes juicing is great and I highly recommend it. Adding Protein is also very important. I use with fruits and vegetables and also with fruits only but adding protein is important. I hope it works out for you. Juicing has many beneficial Vitamins and nutrients.

Thanks, I just wanted some opinions before I invested in a juicer.

You very welcome. I have the nutra bullet and ninja blender. I use frozen organic fruits that costco , Trader Joe's and most supermarket carry. I also buy fresh organic fruits and vegetables. There is a list in WebMD that shows you which fruits and vegetables that should be bought organic. Let me know if you want me ok google it and send to you. Of course you don't have to buy organic if you don't wish to but that is a suggestion. Bed bath and Beyond also sells juicer and you can use the 20% coupons they offer and can even use expire one. I always use them. ?. Any questions please ask. ?.

I'll be honest, I don't get the point of juicing, why not just eat the fruits and veggies? However I know a lot of people who do it and feel great about it and it works for them. My only caution is to watch the fruit a bit because you can go high on carbs with lots of fruit and because you can tolerate more liquid then solids, you could be drinking more calories then you mean to.

From my point of view, it would be the benefit. The benefit of obtaining Vitamins and nutrients at the max in comparison to the amount of fruits and veggies I could consume in whole.

My md and nut discourage juicing. They explained it to me to get enough juice for a serving you'd have to put in 5 or more pieces of fruit. You can't eat those 5 pieces of fruit but because you are juicing them you can drink them. Therefore drinking the calories, sugar and everything else involved with those fruits.

I'm sure I didn't explain it as well as they did for me but I hope that makes sense.

You definitely did. I'll make sure to bring it up with my surgeon and nut, see what their thoughts are.

juice your vegetables, eat your fruits.

If you like the idea of juicing spinach and other low carb veggies, that would work.

I couldn't juice first year...couldn't drink enough calories since only drinking a couple of ounces at a time. IMO I'd wait till approx 9 months post op and then try. The first 3 months follow the Nutritionist plan which is will be mainly Protein.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
