How much weight have you lost

Recommended Posts

I am feeling discouraged because I don't feel that I have lost enough weight since my surgery and I am still on liquids.:) Pre-op I lost 8 lbs and since then I have lost 9. I know I may sound crazy, but I am reading other peoples post & I see that they have lost soooo much more then me.

I'm not taking Protein. Could this be the reason I am not losing? :)

Wannabthin, we are 11 days post op. You lost 9lbs in 11 days thats good. I have only lost 12 in 11 days. I do drink the protien powder, I buy the muscle milk light at GNC. It tastes ok but it will fill you up. I usually drink it for lunch and then Soup for dinner. How do you feel? Do you feel like you have enough energy? Because I felt like poop until i got the powder. hope your husband is ok. Also any thoughts on a fill?

It definitely could be! Go get some Protein shakes....I feel so much better when I get that in my body.

But damn girl...you're doing EXCELLENT!!!!

I started at 330....got down to 315 before my pre-op. I lost 13 pounds on my pre-op liquid diet....and then I have lost about 12 pounds since surgery on the 14th.

I know how you feel. I haven't updated my ticker lately but I lost 8lbs pre-op, 8 lbs the first week and only 1 the 2nd week. I was really disappointed, but then I realized that there would be weeks that I would loose more than others or maybe none at all and I had to look at the overall picture. Also, I stopped weighing my self everyday because I would go up and down daily which I know is shifts in body Water, but it was frustrating. I am on my 3rd week and can tell from my clothes I am losing weight, but refuse to let myself weigh again until Monday. I keep telling myself that this is a lifelong battle/change and I can't expect to wake up and be thin no matter how badly I wish it to happen. I will say that I can tell a big difference in how much I can eat, even when I know I eat way too much it is still less than I ever ate before so I am really doing good.

I was banded on 9/11 and as of this morning I have lost 13.6 pounds. As with anything else, everyone's weight loss goes at it's own rate. For me, every day that I get on the scale and it number does not go UP it is a good day! :)

I also fear that I am not losing enough. However, we have to remember that this is not a "race". Slower losers tend to keep it off longer.

I have only lost 11 lbs since surgery, 7 lbs pre-op diet. AND I gained back 3 lbs while I was on mushies, but have lost it again.

I understand how frustrating it is. My dr even told me that I would GAIN a few lbs before I had my first fill. I was like, WHAT!!! :omg:

Just remember everyone is different, our metabolisms, our fat to muscle ratio etc. so everyone will lose differently and try not to compare to others.

I am also discouraged. I lost 20 lbs pre op. Gained 6 day of surgery. lost it the next day. The first week I lost 11 lbs. I started walking for 30 min a day on the treadmill and haven't lost anything since. I know - everyone keeps saying muscle weighs more than fat and all that - but still. I'm not even eating 1000 calories a day. It just seems like a 380 lb woman ought to lose some weight. It is a good thing I had the surgery or by this afternoon I would have been having me a double quarter pounder with cheese with a chocolate shake. At least now I will have to ride it out. I haven't been hungry yet since the surgery (Sept 13, 2007). I started mushies yesterday. That wasn't very encouraging to read that I could actually gain some between now and first fill (Oct 30). I guess I'm just having a pity party today.

I'm still glad I have my band. The laws of physics say that I have to start loosing don't they??

I am beginning to worry about gaining before my first fill, but I realize I still cant, and do not eat as much as I did before the band. I'm passed the liquid phase, which is prob why I am worrying . I think I going to have to start exercising now

You know I think all of this worry comes from all of us having failed diet after diet. However we have to keep in mind that this isn't just a diet. I am really trying to concentrate on relaxing and letting the tool (i.e. band) help me. I know it is going to help, so I have now developed the fear that it is suddenly going to pop off and I am going to have to get it removed. I am sure all of this comes from the anxiety associated with not wanting to get my hopes up that maybe I have found something that is finally going to help me, but if you read the statistics it will. Not overnight, so like I said, i just keep telling myself to take one day at a time, use the band to learn new eating habits so I can make some permanent changes.:clap2:

Everyone, THANK YOU for your comments. Knowing that I am not the only one with fears of not losing fast enough has helped me. I wish everyone the very best with their weight loss journeys.

I think my biggest problem is that I am now addicted to weighing myself. I have traded one addiction (FOOD) for another. I have become a FREAK. Some days I weigh myself 2-3 times (yes I know this is BAAADDDD). I am going to start weighing myself only on Saturdays. I hope this helps me.

I was banded on 9/14. For some reason they did not weigh me before surgery, but from my initial visit with them on 7/9 I have lost 52 pounds - as of a few days ago. Haven't weighed since Tuesday.

I was on liquids for two weeks and just yesterday started some scrambled egg for Breakfast and had 1/3 clam chowder and a half of a piece of Breakfast sausage patty for supper.

I look forward to getting healthy.

Hello Wannabethin!

I lost 14 lbs. pre-op. I was on a liquid Protein Meal Replacement shake 3-5 times a day. After sugery I was having 3 Protein shakes a day with small liquid type Snacks in between. They were sugar-free Jello, s.f. popsicles, applesauce, sugar free yogurt. Now I am on a "soft diet" and have two Protein Shakes a day. I have 10 lbs. since sugery on 9/13. It just amazes me that the scale goes down instead of up for a change!

I was banded on 9/20. I am on the "creamy liquid" stage. So far, I have lost 14 lbs. since the band!! I don't know why we all lose differently...but I'm sure that as I've read elsewhere that we all will lose weight. I know people at work who had the band a year ago and they look wonderful! 1-2 lbs per week seems to be the norm. Remember, it didn't get there overnight so it's gonna be a little stubborn--but it will come off!

:star:Hi everyone. This is my first visit to the site as a member. I was banded on 9/17. Anybody else out there banded on 9/17? I feel really good this week. The first week of my surgery, I felt pretty bad. I think it was more the anesthesia than anything. The only problem I have now is soreness where my port was inserted. I am in my fourth week of liquid diet and it is getting old! I've lost 25 lbs. since I started the two week post-op liquid diet. The weight loss is slowing down for me a bit though. I can't wait until my first fill because I have been hungry this week. I see my doctor on Monday for my first post-op visit. I cannot wait to graduate to mushy foods - anything but liquids! Good luck everyone!!

Hey there! I was banded on 9/21 and my dr. put me on mushies 9/26. Up until that point I had lost 18.8 (since 9/5) and then when I started on mushies I struggled to find healthier items to eat and stayed the same for 3 days. I have given up the delicious cheesy broccoli Soup (330 calories and 33 grams of fat...YIKES!) and found healthier replacements. I am a bit frustrated with how much I want to eat and how I can feel myself start to push the limit. I get a fill on 10/17 and my goal by my birthday is to lose 11.2 more pounds, so I have to continue on this healthy path and keep exercising every day!

Good luck everyone and keep your chin up! It will come off!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
