First, I want to legitimately say that I have the utmost respect for everyone making these surgeries work for you! I don't know how you guys thrive and keep your lives and yourselves together!

I'm 2 months out from my RNY and I'm ready to have a major break down. (If I'm not already having one).

I have so much worry and anxiety that I can't sleep. Actually sleep is the problem. I stay awake for what feels like 20 hours a day yet getting my fluids and my Vitamins in every day is still very difficult.

I have no idea how I'm going to get a job and manage to get everything accomplished in much less time than I have now.

I think I'm too anxious/afraid to sleep because I feel like I don’t deserve it. It scares me shitless that I won’t get all my fluids, Proteins, vitamins, etc. in. I had absolutely no idea it would be this hard. I don't know how I thought that I was cut out for this.

Call your surgeon's office and get a referral for a psychologist. The first few months is prime regret time and it sounds like you need some support and help to navigate through the emotions this is bringing up. I wish you all the best!

I'm looking into trying to see a psychologist, I plan on making some calls on Monday.

Thanks!

After surgery, the process is very complicated and can become somewhat overwhelming. You will develop a routine that will improve over time. It wasn't until my 6th month post-op, that I reached a happy state when all these minor problems seemed to melt away. Here is a link to my experience after RNY gastric bypass surgery. I hope it will be of help to you. http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery.pdf

Congratulations on your success, I really enjoyed ur link, my surgery is 4/4/17, my biggest problem is the one cup of caffeine coffee I have a day, I drink one decaffeinated and one regular, tried to go without and felt like I had the flu. Thank you for sharing.

Exciting that your surgery date is coming up!! Giving up coffee sucks but try and do it now. It takes about 3 days to get over giving up coffee u get headaches and feel like crap. You want to do it now so it's one less thing you have to go through after your surgery. You can't drink coffee after surgery for about 6 - 9 months..about the same amount of time I gave up alcohol. It's worth it! I have a completely new and active life now. Coffee will make you sick after surgery and it dehydrates you. You don't want to be going through withdrawal and healing from surgery at same time. :(

Excellent advice and agreed! I wish I would have given it up before. So it was a bit of a challenge on the back end but the good news is that you can do Decaf coffee though I had never been a fan previously but learned to appreciate it after. Eventually my NUT said I could have ONE cup of regular coffee a day ONLY because I was meeting my liquid goal DAILY, but I never did one per day more like one per week and now I rarely do coffee but more tea's (LOVE Teavana!!! My treat:)

The way I cut out caffeine before surgery was to start with half-caff coffee grounds, and then diluted it every few days with some Decaf coffee grounds until it was all decaf. Had almost no withdrawal symptoms. Ta-da!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
