We talk about food addiction but not....

Recommended Posts

Hi there, if you haven't seen one of my posts from today. I need to let you know I had my surgery 2/9.

So I've weighed myself every day for a long time. It's a habit or an addiction. You pick. So today when I got up I almost weighed myself. I stopped in time. I do believe I got the shakes and broke out in a sweat. Lol

I've sworn to only weighing once a week. My weigh in day will be Thursday's. That's 4 long days away. I sure hope I can stick with it. Hubby may have to hide it from me. So if some strange lady knocks on your door asking if she can weigh herself on your scale, nicely tell her it's not Thursday yet. Lol

Lol, it's good to start weighing weekly after a certain amount of time out of surgery. I used to weigh daily and would have driven myself crazy carrying on doing that once I was maintaining. Be strong !!! :P

Some people get rid of their scale, and just use the one at their gym or what have you.

Well I found where my hubby hid the scale. Yes I weighed :(
I was 219 day of surgery 2/9. Today I was 213.8. I'm not going to weigh myself again till Thursday.

Lol!

If it makes you feel better, I read an account of someone that was like 5-10 years out and is maintaining because she weighed everyday. She had a range to stay within, and changed things up if she went over or under the range by a pound.

But, I'm sure that worked for her because she looked at the scale with her head, not heart. (So when seeing a higher #, it is... ok I need to do xyz! rather than see the #, and start seeing herself as a failure).

If you can weigh daily and understand that there are going to be fluctuations and not let it ruin your day, by all means weigh daily. Sometimes it is better to weigh less frequently in the weight loss phase so you don't see the stalls or freak out about any normal fluctuations.

For me in the maintenence phase, weighing daily is imortant for accountability purposes. Avoiding the scale is what got me to the point of needing WLS.

My surgery was also on the 9th, and I haven't weighed myself since then since I'm currently staying in a hotel and have no access to a scale! I don't arrive. back to Japan until Saturday, so that helps. I'm hoping to only weigh myself twice a week - on Mondays and Thursdays. I think that will help keep the obsession at bay,

LOL, I weigh once a week every Tuesday. It has helped me focus when I don't feel like exercising [emoji3]

Weighing daily has been something I've done for years. I wanted to wait at least a week after surgery because of swelling. Didn't make it. Lol weighing daily is what kept me from gaining all of the weight I lost in 2012 back. I like weighing daily because it keeps me in check.
By the way. I didn't listen to the scale as it called my name this morning. Lol that thing sure is persistent.

I absolutely have to weigh every day, it keeps me honest. I find if I get up in the morning and don't want to weigh, I'm probably guilty of eating something I shouldn't have!!
I am guilty of letting it effect my mood if it's not a good weigh in though :/ but I try really hard to just roll with it, we all know how that goes!

I'm not scheduled fo r vsg till July, but I use the scale religiously every day. I helps me keep focused.

For so long in my life I have avoided taking care of myself, that I am afraid to not look at the scale.

That slippery slope of not looking for one or two days can let me not see when the slippery slope of not eating mindfully has begun.

But this is how I use my tools. It may change later, but it works for me now. [emoji12]

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
