1- Sounds like you are a direct beneficiary and victim of your own success! Congrats from making you life rotate around food, to not having emotional dependence on it 24/7! What a huge psychological transformation! You have identified the problem, another plus. Now you are looking for lasting solutions. Yes, Ideally better not to have the episode, but sounds like it was a great teaching moment. It is very tricky to turn off our eat all the time dialogue, without turning off the other feedback loops. Yes I agree with everyone else, keep trying new Fluid choices until you get one that works, make your Vitamin regimen a routine instead of a choice. Excited for you that you have made such great progress in such a short time!

I couldn't stand the taste of Water either but it's getting better now. Had surgery 12/1. Try the sugar free kool-aid grape and cherry that worked well for me. Now I'm trying the crush brand and pretty good.

Totally true... water flavoring helps so much and also @danaymacklin you are such a beauty. I had gastric sleeve on 12/5 and it is a struggle to get in water n Protein but I do my earnest to get in at least 50 mg by Protein Shakes and at least 40 by food. Water is about 50 oz a day . Other liquids about 30 oz . I'm trying . Take Multivitamin daily and this post has scared me to make sure that I don't skip a beat .

I can not get the page to load properly so not sure about what you are asking. if you mean a body odor no there is none at least if you stay clean. I could shower in the hospital and so continued that once home. I did a bath chair in the shower and had someone to call if I got too weak or felt dizzy but that never happened. never heard of anyone having an odor unless their stitches got infected. then maybe but will be treated promptly so is not a permanent thing. hope this helps and if you need something more specific just let me know good luck

for those of you who keep posting that you are forgetting to take your vit or drink your water==put a plan in place. this is a life style change and will take time to become a habit. I take my vit when I brush my teeth each morning and night but you can connect it to your meals etc . set the alarm on your phone for every 30 min and drink some Water. or set an alarm clock. if you wont get angry=have someone who is responsible remind you for a week or two until it gets to be second nature. there are many ways to get around any obstacle you might encounter but you have to think outside the box ( our normal way of thinking is what got us here to begin with) ugh. don't be too hard on yourself but also as nike says just do it. if not you could end up in the hospital from dehydration of even worse. best of luck to everyone on their journey

My dr said I need the gastric bypass but read someone post said you will have an odor after the surgery

Agree with Martha below and the only odor will come from your feces after. Or at least speaking for me my poop smells worse than ever. I bought that Poopuri and it works.

Agreed...I do the same. Have reminders set for every 30 minutes and every 2 hours for my Vitamins. It works!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
