Hey I don't believe there is a such thing as being too skinny. I used to be 400lbs and I lost down to 250lbs through diet and exercise. I used to here that alot. I just assumed it was from them being jealous or not used to seeing me that size. I would hear, "If you lose another pound" or "where the other half of you?" Anyway, please don't let it phase you! It is your body and your health.... Keep up the good work!

From a medical standpoint, there is definitely such a thing as "too skinny". A BMI of under 18.5 is considered "underweight" and puts your health at risk.

Some people also fear they may LOOK "too skinny" depending on their body type and weight distribution. But that's a much more subjective issue. For me, I feel uncomfortably skinny when I am under 160 pounds. I like having some curves and some muscle. Others are content to get much lower. It's an individual decision.

Of course there's such a thing as too skinny. But are most WLS patients likely to have that problem? Not likely. Unless they trade one eating disorder for another. Not losing what they want or regain are much more the norm.

The problem with the "too skinny" thing is perception. People are just used to seeing us as fat. Now, with a normal BMI or even just overweight instead of obese, we look "too thin". The loose skin and new face/neck wrinkles give a gaunt and sickly appearance as opposed to our previous "healthy" looking chubby cheeks. We may not even be as thin as the person making the comment or as thin as the friend standing next to us, but we just don't look the way everyone is used to seeing us. Someone who only knows the postop you is not likely to think you are too skinny.

The only people that say I am too skinny are people bigger than me.everyone my size or smaller does the eye roll side eye thing, because no one ever comments on them being thin and taking care of themselves.

Thanks everyone for the comments I do think the wrinkles on my neck are a bit much but for my body type I'm 5'2 and petite but I would like to lose a little more I'm 137 and want to be 130 and maintain that just keep hearing everyone with there comments and has me constantly thinking did I get to skinny

@@Jesm1029 One thing you should be aware of is that things tend to "even out" a bit over time. So when you first hit goal, your face might look a little sunken or hollow, but your skin can recover a bit and your fat can settle back into you face after a few months. No guarantees, but it does happen.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
