Anyone 5'3-ish and HW around 230?

Recommended Posts

I'm in Missouri; sleeved 5 days ago on Jan 31. I can't believe how good I feel after five days; i'm able to get down the Protein & Water without any issues. Best decision ever!

I'm totally confused as to how this works. If you want to reply to conversation and you just want to reply on that one persons reply how do you do it. I tryed clicking on that one person but the list says report. Lol just trying to figure this out. Lol

That is me to a tee. I am 5 months from my surgery date. My insurance requires 6 month phone counseling. I have had 2. I have meet with GP and have my psych appt. coming up in 2 weeks. Am really excited and nervous. Afraid I won't be approved and I will be heartbroken. Have you had your surgery? What stage are you in?

I am 5' 2.75"

High weight was 224 in October, which put me at 40 BMI, to qualify for surgery with no comorbidities.

Surgery weight was 221.6 on 1/26/17.

1 week post-op official weigh-in was 213.8 on 2/2/17.

Current weight around 211.

Days 1&2 were miserable, I could barely swallow a tablespoon of broth and a tablespoon of Gelatin each day. I got up and walked the hospital halls for 10-20 minutes about six times each day.

Day 3 was much better and I've been getting my Proteins (60-120 grams) and liquids (64-100 ounces) in every day since day 4. I was doing 5 minute walks around the house at the start of every waking hour until my post-op appointment. Now I'm working out 3x/day, usually two 20-minute walks plus one 40-minute workout with weights.

Oh, and my insurance is Medica, my plan just required 1 visit with dietician at least 30 days before surgery, psychological clearance, plus being either 40 BMI, or 35 if you have specific comorbidities (diabetes, etc)

@@kimber111 If you are logged in you should see "quote" on the bottom in line with the "report" button. The only time I don't see that is if I've somehow wound up logged out!

Let me know if that helps!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
