Finally stared to hit the gym!

Recommended Posts

I started going to the gym finally. My first time going in YEARS. I've already lost almost 5 pounds. I've been going everyday for about an hour. I feel really good when I go to bed and when I wake up the next morning. I'm so ready for my new journey! post-311725-14860823848577_thumb.jpg post-311725-14860824031675_thumb.jpg

And I think I'm going to use this phone as one of my "before" photos.

Hell. Yes. Too many times I have seen threads started by people going to the gym and it's just cardio. Nothing wrong with that, but I can't get excited about it. Doing squats? That is where it is at! I've talked about it quite a bit why I am a fan of the squat and the importance of it.

I know you were taking pictures, but when doing squats you don't look up do you? There is a lot of completely false and dangerous "tips" on how to preform the exercise. Looking up is sure fire way to cause damage to the cervical spine when/if you start getting up into the heavier weights.

Another good exercise to look into is the deadlift. Starting out you can use kettlebells.

Hey lady, I just finished an awesome weight training session. Heavy weights today. Like you, I feel great afterwards and I feel great when I wake up. I've always enjoyed hitting up the weights (I do some cardio). Because I'm pre-op, I'm focusing on strength now more than ever. I'd love to hear how you have been doing from time to time! Keep it up! ????‍♀️

How long did you wait post op before you started weight training at gym? I have just been doing cardiovascular on treadmill and resistance bands. Ready to get back to Planet Fitness.

I started after my two week post op. I just took it slow and added the weight and reps depending on how my abdomen felt. Last week at 4 weeks out, I started interval training so I run for minute at a time. Just listen to your body.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
