Eating too much?

Hazel how are you doing on your weight loss since surgery? Just be careful and make sure you are fully healed before taking in alot of solids! Good Luck

i'm doing alright i guess....i was 260 the day of my surgery and have lost between 10-13 lbs since...11days post op.

i say inbetween that weight loss of 10-13lbs because it seems to be fluctuating back and forth....guess thats what i get for weighing on the scales daily though! lol.

i didn't get to walk as much over the weekend, but started back today walking about a mile or so daily. well, i say i'm walking, its more like the dog is walking me....lol...but i'm still working up a sweat and walking at a good pace.

tomorrow i plan to leave the dog at home and meeting a few of my gf's at the track and then a small group of us girls at church have decided to meet an hour before wednesday night services to walk there as well....so wednesdays will definitely be my day to step up my game.:peep:

xoxo, me

Faith....you couldn't be more right....I was banded on the 18th....I'm on a 3 week liquid...3 week mushie...then introduce food....my doctor explained it EXACTLY like you did...people, please think here....if you can't follow directions and are cheating already....how do you ever expect this to work ?...being fat is a choice that I believe we all made...being skinny is another choice we all have to make....the lapband is a TOOL to HELP ( yes, I said HELP ) get us there...but if you dont make the mental commitment to follow the program...your chances of success diminish greatly......am I thrilled drinking Protein Shakes and water.....um.....NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!...but it is what it is and is only for a short time......this fatso is going to live...and this fatso is going to suceed....I wish you all luck and godspeed on YOUR journey....

Wow, I would be terrified of eathing anything that quickly! I was banded on 9-21-2007, here's my schedule

Stage 1, 1st 48 hours, Clear Liquids

Stage 2, Weeks 1-3, full liquids such as Protein shakes, skim or soymilk, cream soups-strain the chunks, no Tomato Soup as it has acid.

Stage 3, weeks 4-5, pureed diet, foods with consistency of baby food or applesauce

Stage 4, wk 6, intro to solids1

Plus NO Pasta, bread or rice for 6 Months....

Good luck to all, but really follow what the doctor states, most should have received a notebook on what to do ...take care

i'm banded 9/6. on my first and only post op follow-up (day 10), the nurse was upset when i told her i had gummed some chili to death about day 9, and told me i was on my own if i did that. but she said i could eat anything i wanted after 3 weeks. its a big practice and they've done many hundreds of bands. they are regular contributors to medical journals, etc.

there was no pre-op diet. doc did say that sometimes they have to switch to a standard operation once your out (cut you open) if something goes wrong (everything was okay). and that was about it. the PA did 90% of the talking in the days before surgery.

like someone said earlier, i was miserable in the hours after surgery. i was also suprised that i was totally sober when they rolled me down the hall to surgery. a little valium or something in the IV would have been nice, but i guess the anesthesiologist has his requirements.

my personal doctor gave me xanax (i have a short history of panic) a week before surgery, and that came in handy. actually, what gave me panic this time was my battle with the insurance company, that and the anxiety of being in the mess i had eaten myself into. my doctor knows how being cornered makes some people feel, so when i told her i had panic, she took care of me. I gave up and paid out of pocket ($15K on credit cards, mostly).

i started getting pretty darn hungry at day 12 or so. i called doctor at the end of 3 weeks (a few days ago), and asked what my fill date would be. the nurse said, if you feel you need a fill, just come in. anytime. 3 weeks post op, or whenever, just call, and come in, and they'll fill.

as someone else said, doctors vary in how they handle these issues.

God Bless Us All.

greg

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
