I too am gonna be banded by Dr. Hass. I have the insurance approval but the dr's office didn't get the ok yet. I'm waiting for a call from the office today. I had to call the insurance co. myself (United Healthcare) cause I've been waiting since Feb for approval. I too have a dog named Chloe (maltese) but go by Opus after the penquin. I live in Silvis and am really ready for my lapband!Opus (Judy)

Hope you got your call from the drs. ofc. I had no idea United Healthcare would take so long to give approval. I haven't even applied yet! Nancy at Trinity is checking to see if the ins. would accept my 6 months at Curves inloo of 6 months of Dr. visits. I've already done 3 months of office visits. I was really hoping I could get banded this spring, but it doesn't look good :frown:

P.S. My Chloe is a three year old boxer.

Chloe, have you been through the phyc evaluation yet? I had to take a 3 hour computer quiz to find out that I am normal! They could of just asked me! First had to talk to Dr. then take quiz, then talk to the Dr. again, just so he could tell me i'm normal and would be a complient canidate for the lapband.

Have herd from the insurance girl at Dr. Hass's office and she said she would know for sure in a couple days. To Dr. offices' I think that is code for maybe a week or so. Opus

Opus, Yes I went through the whole psych thing It cost me over 400 out of pocket just to find out I'm normal. I think it's a racket. It's like lets see how many different doctors can we make richer off of this? Now my family docs office can't seem to find my old records. They only have three years of past records and the ins. wants proof I've been obese for at least five years. If they can't come up with the other two years I don't see how I will get approved. Very discouraging. But at least I will have written proof I'm not crazy:)

Chloe, Well I found out why my "insurance approval" was taking so long! My husband passed away in Jan. and when the Dr., Phyc, and Nancy found out they decided to put me off by telling me it was the insurance's fault. I've gone through greif councling at church, and Phycoligoust, and I know I am ready now. I saw my phyc last week and he spilled the Beans about them putting me off till they thought I was ready.. I think I will hear good news next week.

Hi Kitcatnap, Congratulations on finaly having a date for your banding! How long has the process taken for you? I started in Feb. 08. Getting nowhere fast! Do you have to be on a liquid diet before the surgery? Good luck! Keep us posted.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
