I could eat an elephant!

Recommended Posts

I can hardly wait for my first fill. I was banded Aug. 15 and have no restriction. I can eat anything and if not careful I can eat large portions. I get my first fill Oct. 1. I am so scared this will not work for me. I have only lost 17 Lbs. and 8 of that was pre-diet. My family wants to know why I am not loosing faster. They accuse me of cheating. I drink the Protein shakes and walk daily, but seem to be stuck at 17 lbs.:cry I read other people's threads and it seems like everyone is loosing more than I am help!:help:

JP,

It took me at least 4 fills to get it right and several months - it was very frustrating.

However, once you hit the sweet spot, you will know it. I am now down 96lbs and within 24lbs of my goal.

I've found that I have to combine heavy exercising with my lower caloric intake to acheive the continued weight loss

I am so with you on this one! I am 3 weeks out and have only lost 10lbs! I feel like I can eat anything, but have been trying to stick to small portions. I get my first fill in October, I am hoping this will help some.

Hang in there, you are not alone!

Hey JP......I'm writing to share my first fill experience with you. It was last Friday. This is going to sound discouraging but I wanted to let you know that it is a possibility for you as well. Long story short.....after my fill I feel exactly the same. As if I have never had one. Boo! I actually was somewhat relieved because I had read all the PBing stories and didn't want to become one. I haven't. I am still running on will power alone. I do make sure I keep my Protein grams at 70 a day. I believe this helps with the hunger issuses. While I was in the office, my doctor said I could come back as early as 2-3 wks for a second fill. I have a 4cc band with 1cc in it. I don't know what my second fill will consist of, but I did make the appt for 2 wks out. I wish you the best of luck!

JP, I'm in the same boat. I was banded the 24th of August and I feel like I could eat anything. I'm trying to feel the "full" sensation, but it's so hard. My first fill is set for Oct. 10th. I've made healthy choices, but I think I'm eating too much. This is very frustrating! It's gotta work in the long run, look at all the success stories! We'll get there eventually. People are surprised I've only lost 20 so far too. Keep plugging away!! :)

Hang in there. I was banded in January and didn't have adequate restriction until May (5 fills later). Plus, I don't get initial restriction right after a fill. It takes a week to kick in, for me. Go figure. Give yourself grace. I am now losing about 8 pounds a month but for those first few months it was hardly anything. I too was quick to get frustrated because nobody told me this stuff. I feel for you.

I feel tghe same way. I hate that full feeling not lasting for long periods anymore. I am 3 weeks out and I get my first fill on 10/9/07. I can not wait! I have lost 22lbs but only 9 post-op and those have been a struggle. The scale won't budge and I am walking 2-3 miles a day and eating all my Protein staying within 700 cals or so. Its so frustrating!!!!

Do a search on the forums for 'bandster hell'.

After the swelling from surgery goes down.. you don't have anything restricting you.

Then it takes 1(if you're lucky)-1237234 fills to get you to proper restriction. I heard a good 'average' number for your sweet spot is 3 fills.

JP, it took me 5 fills to get good restriction. YOu are doing great considering you haven't had a fill yet. Just keep going back until you can eat 1/4 cup of food at a time. YOu can do it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
