8 Days Post Op - Back to Work

Recommended Posts

I am on day 8, and I was cleared by my surgeon to move to soft foods. I never thought that I would be so happy to eat cottage cheese!! Some other small victories are that I am able to sleep on both sides, and not just my back now, so that makes for a better nights sleep. I can also drink with basically no restriction, which is great for getting in my liquids. I joked with my surgeon that he must have left my stomach in there because I wasn't having trouble drinking. Then I tried cottage cheese last night, and could only fit 2oz. Yay! This tool is working!

I returned to work today, which has been a bit exhausting, but it feels good to get out of the house and back really moving around again!

Congrats on your WL already. I have to admit I have never been a fan of cottage cheese, but who knows I might be desperate ;-)

Wow. I'm also 8 days out. I'm having a much different experience. I'm so tired and feel flu like. I'm having trouble getting my liquids down.

Any advice you can offer?

The only advice I can offer is to just keep drinking all day long. I carry my Water bottle everywhere with me, even to the bathroom. I even take sips when I wake up in the middle of the night. I never had flu-like symptoms, so I am sure that is making it tough for you to keep drinking.

So far so good. I am going to leave a little early today though, because I am just so tired, but I have gotten through the day with no issues at all. Just a little sore, but nothing that Tylenol can't manage.

Pstart: have you tried powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury, or genpro unflavored protien???? It can be mixed with anything, and no taste. Its very important that you get your Protein and Water in. Thats most important at this point. Try chicken broth, how about tea, non caffinated. Lots of times you need to also experiment with tempatures.

You dont want to get dehydrated, thats dangerous. Small sips constantly. Good luck

Thank you. I'm ok with warm herbal tea. I have trouble with plain Water any temp. I've tried the Protein powder some with minimal success. I think dehydration is my biggest problem. I appreciate the support and advice. I'm really struggling.

Pstarf have you tried the G2 Gatorade? Or the vitawater zero?? That might be a little more pleasurable to drink... I drink my Water throughout the day but if I fall short I find it easier to drink the G2

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
