Thanks Slinky - u'll be there before you know it!! My 1st goal was always 12 stone as I remember I always felt reasonably slim at that weight and felt OK. After that I just want to settle at a weight between 10 stone (if I am reallllllllllllllly lucky lol) and 11 stone so I can buy clothes that I know I'm going to fit into for a good few years! I'm fed up of having so many clothes in so many sizes!!

Just catchin up with everyone. Congratulations to all the new bandsters. Been banded myself 03/08/10 and am really pleased with weight loss so far-33lbs. Had my first fill but not desperate to hurry back as weight loss nice and steady and can eat most things. Not really much hunger pangs so am saving the fills for when I am really in need of one. Am really afraid of being overly tight so am on a go slow as far as fills concerned. Los of new peeps just startin out so welcome to the journey.

Bloody well done you!! That's a great weight loss I hope this is how it goes for me.

I just wanted to show 2 piccys of my lovely daughter, one before her band and the 2nd one taken last week. She has lost 8 stone since she had her op in 2005, and had a baby in between.

The difference is amazing isnt it, and thats only head and shoulders!!

Wow Freckles she has done soooooooo well! How long did it take her to lose the weight? She is gorgeous like her mummy . Do I recall u saying ur other daughter has a quite a low BMI (for us bandsters :tongue2:). Did she mention it to Dr Chris? How did she get on? I bet she's dead excited!!! Will you be staying at the gorgeous Campanille?!! Ask for a disabled room if possible - we had one as we had little Harrison with us and he was only 7 months old so in a travel cot. The room they originally gave us was tiny! Couldn't even fit the cot in it!! And actually the disable bathroom was quite handy post op.

Thanx girls, she does look good doesnt she, and thank you Sammy for the lovely compliment . I think you should put your lovely pic on here, was looking at it on FB you look gorgeous.

Thank you for the info about the room, and I think my other daughter has willed herself to put weight on cos she looks bigger now than a few months ago.

At first Dr Chris said no, she wasnt obese, then she applied again and lo and behold she got an appointment.

She sent her deposit off last week, and now we're counting down, 3 weeks this Thursday we fly to Belgium.

Ahh Slinx you are so nice, thank you for the compliment about my daughter. She is so happy now, she has a new partner, a beautiful baby girl and her own shop.

I'm so happy for her. her happiness shows doesnt it.

It took her from 2005 to 2008 to get rid of the 8 stone and now she needs a TT. Always something isnt there.

She didnt have her band too tight, because she was over-filled at one point and was frightened to death cos she couldnt swallow her own saliva and had to travel all the way back down to Southampton from the North West to get a de-fill, so she has just kept it to not being able to eat too much and it worked for her.

She did have a defill when she was 6 months pregnant and only put on a stone altogether in the 9 months, she's still trying to lose it, its coming off albeit slowly.

I am so looking forward to going to Belgium, havent had a holiday this year after last years big one.

Thanx for the good wishes.

Geez dont i natter lol

Hi everyone

Yesterday was 14 days post op for me. I have lost 7lbs so far taking my weight from 201lbs to 194lbs. So far so good.

I have done another video - its a bit waffly as usual (soz), i will get better I promise.

Congrats to all who have made such fab progress so far. Good luck to all those who are yet to be banded. Its not easy, it is major surgery. I have had a tough fist couple of weeks but I think the worst is over and I will soon reap the benefits.

Remember the band is only a tool though, you still have to work at it and you have to make an effort to get the results you really want. I'm learning that lesson every day.

If you want to watch, my 2 week post op vid is at:

YouTube - MrsVickers101's Channel

Have a great week everyone xx

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
