Recommended Posts

Hi Katie

I hope all goes well next week with your port problems. I am sure Chris will be able to sort it out for you without any surgery (fingers crossed) XX.

I had another 0.5cc put in on Monday and I have been on fluids until today. I had Breakfast this morning but I still CAN'T feel any restriction !!!! I can still pretty much each what I want and not have any issues ??

I currently have 6.25cc in my band, perhaps I need 6.5cc or 6.75cc before I feel anything......who knows, but its getting me down cus Im not losing any weight and I am beginning to think WHY did I go through with this operation when I am not seeing any results :sifone:

Cheers for all you kind comments folks, bit more without today so though i would jot down some tips for those that come after me.

When Frederick Comes to you room buy air freshener cos the bugger farts at the drop of a hat.

There is free wireless internet at Campomile hotel, usename camp, password 2009.

Night before you got to hospital the hotel does nice food expect to pay 23 - 33 euro for 3 course meal.

They automatically gave me a twin room i asked nice and got a double, big bed is best when your sore.

You get private room in Hospital which has lockable valubles cuboard and a wardrobe. Room also has telly, radio and hand controls. The bathroom in not too good just a toilet and a sink, if you decide to have a good wash bring a plug because they dont have them for hygiene reasons.

When you first got to hospital you need to check in, you go in hospital at front and take first right to check in, there is a machine with 5 buttons press the top button, take the number wait to be called and check in.

If your a bloke or a female gibbon shave your tummy before you, i didnt and had a nurse do it but she uses no foam and cheap razor and it itches like mad afterwards.

Hope all this helps someone, I will add more if I remember anything else.

Some questions from Me, So soon after am I allowed black coffee i sooooooo miss my coffee ????

Also am allowed to make the girlfriend dress up as a sexy nurse, she says bugger off your ill i say it is my right, your views ?? ;-)

In reply to my fall i did mention it to Dr Chris and he said "this is not acceptable" and went off to sort them out so hopefully this will not happen to others.

Hi Cankster, Glad everything went well and hope you are on the mend now. Your posts make me laugh I didn't notice the F problem with Fredrick. But just to let others know there were 7 being banded on our day 2 were in single rooms two were in twin rooms and I was in a triple there was another bandster in with me and a Belgium older lady who didn't speak English and left the afternoon we checked in but she was very sweet and was also Dr Chris paitent. Sorry you had lack of attention but I don't think that is the norm as we had exceptional care I suppose there must have been several people calling at the same time.

I don't know about anyone els I was drinking tea and coffee when I came home but just don't over do it and stick with the Soups and jelly and bovril etc for at least 10 days.

Hi again Puddlejumper,

Glad you are going for it, exciting times!! I paid my deposit last week and there is a £25 bank transfer fee, doesn't matter whether it is going abroad or not. A word of advice, make sure you've booked an appointment at the bank... not everyone in the bank is trained to do it, turned into a real headache for me.

Thank you for the info re the bank Transfer, I am going to pay mine this weekend too and will ring the bank first to make the appointment. It seems like an age away (11th Marsh) so I am also wishing my life away at the moment.

Thank you for all the info on this site, Susan

Also, and this may not be new to you, you should bring your own towels/washcloths to the hospital. This was a suprise to me as the hospitals in US provide them. But, I think it's a brilliant idea.

Hi guys not been on for a while and took me a while to catch up! Good luck to all the newbies going to have the band fitted.

So good to hear from big and little sis Ive missed you guys.

Im still in discomfort after having 0.75 ml fill put in almost 2 weeks ago. My doctor has provided antacids and gaviscon but only taking the edge off. I can hardly eat much at all and even threw up my icelolly yesterday. I was ok after the fill but a couple of days into eating solids something wouldnt go down so I was quite sick and I think this led to swelling and anything I tried to eat after wouldnt go down so I think I may have to go a few days with only Water to let the swelling go down. Freckles I know you had this for a while any advice would be good. Wendy isnt back for another fortnight and It would cost me money I havent got at the mo to go somewhere else for a defil. Jx

Starsky please dont be disheartned as you can see from my post I got 0.75 top up in my band and it is really too much. Before christmas my fill was only 0.25 and I had told Wendy I felt really hungry all the time and she decided to give me a larger fill but on heinsight I wish I would only have got 0.25 as now I will have to go for a defill. So rememer about the tortoise and the hare, You will get there. Good luck Jx:thumbup:

Hi Jo Jo,

Thanks for the info. I booked an appointment for this morning, and great it worked a treat. Was even more impressed when they charged me £8 for the transfer.

So if anyone has a CO-OP account use this bank its a cheap transfer fee.

Getting excited now, that's another step taken towards freedom.....

Hello Tracey

Reading you account of the trip to Belgium just put one question into my mind and that is this.... The meal you had the night before suprised me a little, was it ok to have or what you really had was just enough to fill a sparrow to ensure no complications? Am just a little concerned as my son has decided to come with me ..."to drag my sorry ass back home in one piece" as he puts it so politely. So I gotta feed him regardless of what I have or not? Your's a little confused Paul:unsure:

I am wondering what I should be living on in the 2 weeks before my operation, Frederik mentioned low fat etc etc.

Any suggestions as to what falls into this catagory with variation so boredom doesn't creep in ?? All suggestions welcome. PS I don't need advice on alcohol, as I rarely touch it, last time I was sozzled was 6 years ago on my 40th---Good excuse then ha ha.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
