Hi TIN what do yo mean 4lbs not great, thats 48lbs in a year which is around 31/2 stone. In my opinion any weight Im losing is good as before I had the band I couldnt get my mind focused at all and if I did, along came a problem which made me lose focus and I would eat comfort food again. With this band, ok you may be able to eat some wrong things, but on the whole it stops this and even on a bad month your still losing.

I got 0.75 put in and Wendy wasnt too sure as to maybe taking 0.25 out as she defo thinks thats it, so sat by me when I drank the Water and it went down fine. She says if I have any probs being too tight to phone her and even offered to phone me next week, isnt she good. Jx:w00t:

your right homecare but i suppose i feel im lettting myself down at the moment as im not giving it 100% focus which i do like to do!

re wendy i have to text her next tuesday to let her know how my restriction and confidence is going...she is then going to call me for a wee chat later in the evening.

so yeh anyone who is thinking about using wendy and her company i would just say they/she is very professional and always ready to help you.

i do feel more positive after speaking to wendy and basically think to myself imagine what i could lose with 100% effort??:scared2:

good luck to everyone

TIN:thumbup:

Hello to everyone. It's been three weeks since my surgery and I couldn't be more thrilled. I've had a wonderful recovery and have started losing the weight.

I love the band and am so thankful for Dr. DeBruyne and Frederik for all they did. First fill in two or three weeks but still getting enough preliminary restriction to keep me from getting too hungry.

Hooray!

My sister and her partner are being banded in Belgium tomorrow, they flew out today. I think Im more nervous for them than I was for myself. They went on my recommendation so hope everything goes ok. Jx

i take it this is your sister that knows all about it obviously, speaking to over in belgium i thought your family werent really up for it so you were keeping it like me to minimal knwledge???:wink:but all the same they have to be happy with your progrees and thats probably whats made them decide to do it i suppose..brilliant!

by he way j sais really well done!i think she is thinking about it now too ???:scared2:

Hi

TIN u have done brilliant can you imagine how I'm feelin I got banded 11 days after u, and I have lost about 7 lbs I can see very little change, I've had 2 fills 4.5mls and am seeing Wendy on Wed' for my 3rd. Getting this band was a last resort, and I really need it to work as I don't have great willpower (which I hope it will soon) but at times I can't help but think what if it doesn't ? Others who got banded same time as me have lost 2-3 stone. Has it been this slow for anyone else ?

Bobo congratulations on setting a date what a success story !! (& I won't say anything about the other disclosure :scared2: lol)

thanks for your kind words anitahug!much appreciated

i would say if you feel so down about things speak to wendy as i did and i do feel more positive re how i feel and what i can achieve working with the band.:w00t:

as you know it is difficult... look at me and you but as i have been hearing all the time any loss is a positive and a step closer to your goal??

plus everyone IS different so reading on this site how much people lose etc could be detrimental to others,so i personally would stick to this for site for brilliant help but for real advice Wendy is the answer.!

good luck

Hi JB

Welcome! Have you looked into how easy it is to get fills in India? If you travel long distance alot they normally advise you to have some Fluid taken out of your band prior to flying so you will definately need easy access to someone who can do your fills.

x

Hi Carriejess,

Thanks for that, I fly a lot of the time with my work, they send me all over the world. Does this mean I will fill then defill and fill and defill all the time?

xx

Hi TIN sooo glad your back on track and like I said earlier any set backs used to send me straight to the fridge, but now I cant eat the way I used to so have to do something else to release stress. I have been cleaning like mad, pulling out wadrobes and decluttering all over the house I find this keeps my mind off food and is also good exercise.

I have only one sister and I had to tell her about the op because we work together and she would have found out. She wasnt so keen on me going to Belgium to have it done and not telling any of the family. But when I sung the hospital's praises and so far have had no major problems (touch wood) she became more interested. Also after failing miserably over the summer to diet was the final straw. So she and her partner are being banded this morning. I must add she hasnt told any of the family either just me.

Tell J and wee J I was asking for them, and if J decides to go for it will that be another family Trip?

Ive lost 2 3/4 lbs this week so well pleased. Im sure Im at restriction now and I love this band. Jx:tongue_smilie:

Hi anita, it would appear that those of us who started their journey at around the 35bmi may have a much slower weight loss initially, but it is steady and usually downwards, mine has been 2.5 stone over 8 months which is not brilliant but its 2.5 stone I would'nt have lost without the band. I believe bigsister is in a simlar situation, dont compare yourself to others you will lose weight as long as you go for regular fills and get fussy over your food choices choosing Protein with every meal where possible. Good luck dont get down hearted, you will make it. :w00t:

Hi jb

Too be honest i dont think i can give you a concrete answer to that as i dont fly enough to know properly. I would advise you to ask CDB or Frederick or perhaps even give Wendy from WLS a call and ask them.

Hi guys,

Haven't been on here for a while. You guys are doing so well.

Bobo, thats a brilliant weight loss.

Mandy, i was like you last week. Really down cos I just couldn't eat a thing!! Only Soup....

Even mash potatoe was hard to swallow and of course then because you want to eat, you settle for the food that slides down easy like the chocolate and ice-cream.

Its mental torture. I went out for a meal last Friday and was very nervous - ordered sole and chewed and chewed and really took my time. Had to keep putting the knife and fork down and after about 15 minutes it had gone cold, but I did manage to eat half of it, with mashed celeriac. Dessert was a skinny latte!!

My weight loss has really slowed down too so much so that I'm thinking of going back to writing things down, like Garry said and being good.

Hi guys

I've not been on here for a while, I just seem to have had hardly any time to myself since starting back at work a couple of months back.

I'm nearly 19 weeks pregnant now, can you believe where the time has gone?!! I'm starting to show a bit now, but I think it's also down to the chocolate cravings I seem to be having - typical! Why can't I crave celery or tomatoes!?! Well, I had 0.5ml out when I first found out I was pregnant which took me back down to 6ml in a 7-9ml band. I was glad I did as the band tightening with the wrenching down the toilet! When I got to 13 weeks and the nausea had past I had the 0.5ml back in over 2 fills. I do have a bit of restriction but not great. I was tempted to have a bit more in just to stop me from eating too much but I think it'd be pointless as I just need to start eating the right stuff and not give in to my chocolate obsession!

In the last 19 weeks, I lost about 5lbs in the first 12 weeks but they seem to have gone back on now. But I am pretty much the same weight now as pre-pregnancy but I suspect I may have gained a couple of lbs the last few days. But at this stage with Harrison I'd put on at least a stone may be more so I am pleased to in effect not have put anything on. Wendy at WLS was happy for me to lose 20lb of fat throughout the pregnancy but I just don't think that's going to happen. But I'd be happy with just a moderate weight gain and then start again after the baby is born in March.

It doesn't help because our fridge freezer is broken and keep losing it's 'coolness' so I can't put much in there. The fault is really rare and it's been a nightmare getting it sorted and sourcing the part. I should all be fixed in another couple of weeks so I can start buying more and freezing stuff again. Hubby went back for another 8 weeks last week (was 3 weeks waiting for his visa so we had him home for nearly 2 months which was fab!) so it's down to cooking for myself which I find hard. Any ideas for easy suppers for one?!!

Anyway I'll stop babbling! How is everyone, I've not had time to go back and read any posts unfortunately. I just hope everyone is doing well and their eating is more in control than mine!! I'm putting this last few days down to comfort eating too since hubby went back to work!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

      3. Doughgurl

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

    • LeighaTR

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
