I know what you mean bigsister im the one who wants them all lol,

Great news for me thou i spoke to fred earlier on and he has confirmed that im still booked in for the 29th so all good just need to book flights now i have found it more expensive to go on the eurostar than to fly just hope ill be ok to fly but from the sound of you lot you have all done ok xx thanks for all your help today guys and glad your fills went well

Hi TanyaC - glad to hear it's still all systems go for 29th, it will seem like no time at all now, bet you are relieved to have your date confirmed. Hope your pre-op diet goes ok, it's good practice for limiting yourself once you've been banded. Bigsister x

Hiya thanks for the reassurance ive been up half the night worrying about this im booked in for friday 29th May do yo think ill be ok then?

Hi Tanyac, You have made a life changing desistion, like the rest of us on the site. I was banded on Friday last week, with dr chris. I am still in a little pain, but I think that is because I have over done things. I am going to rest 2moz though. I have so pleased that I have had the op done. Dr chris, the hossi and the staff are so proffesional and helpfull. The best thing I have done.

p.s if you want any advise dont not hesitate to pose any question on this site, everyone is great and helpfull

Mandy , Congrats on the Op, Hope you will feel better soon! What was it like flying after having it done, did you sleep when you had to stay over night in the hospital? Also, Can you tell me what you took and was there anything you wish you had taken? Hope you don't mind all the Q's! When are you going for your first fill, and were you able to eat anything the day you got it done, or the next....

Also, one for everyone, Anyone got a really good low fat diet plan they'd like to share for my two weeks pre-op diet?

Thanks All in advance!

Penny

P.S I love this weather, maybe next year I'll be able to get the shorts out!!!

Hi Mandy

Glad to hear that you are doing well. I would go ahead and hove your fill, you will prob get 3mls max 1st time if you go with dr chris and by the time you go away your restriction will have decreased a bit anyway. If you do fly the pressure should not be too bad with only a small fill. I think he charges between £80-£90 per fill but im not sure as i do my own.

Hi Penny

Any questions I can help with I will do.

Flying was great, I do wish that I had booked an earler flight, our flight was not till 6.15 on Sunday nite. You have to be out of ur room 4 11.30, so it can be a long day if you have a evening flight. You can eat anything and drink beer, wine etc the day b4 the op. After that you cant eat, after your op, your can have sips of Water, the day after, the day you go bk to hotel the hossi give you Soup and rice bread with jam, b4 you leave. I would advise that you take, slimfast and cupasoups because once you have left the hossi you can start 2 drink. also we wish we had taken some Snacks 4 hubby casuse there is not alot near the hotel and hossi

Hope the info helps xxx mandy:thumbup:

Oh my God........I'm devistated.......Just had an e-mail from Dr Chris saying that my BMI is too high for surgery. He said that I would have to lose 20kg. I've wrote back promising that I would lose the weight before the surgery. 20kg is easy to lose, its keeping it off for any lengh of time I find hard. I dont know what I will do if he wont book me in, I've now set my heart on this. I feel so sad:frown:

Oh know Jackie - that's a bit of a blow. I have a feeling the Gary on this forum was advised to lose weight before the op. When have you booked ur op for? Is it feasible to lose 20kg by then? At least it would motivate you. I think I gained weight from booking it to the actual op!! Too many last suppers!!

Feeling marginally better this morning but still tight. My hubby won't recognise me when he gets back if I carry on like this!!! Oh I think he will - I was about 6-7 stone lighter when we got married 5 years ago!

Hi Sammy

Glad to hear your feeling a bit better. I havent booked yet, hoping it will be august. I've e-mailed chris promising to lose the weight by them. I'm sure I can do it, my worry is that he wont book me in until I've lost the weight, then I have to keep it off which is what I find the hardest!!!

oh no Jackie, thats bad, when you had set your heart on it too..but it does show that Dr Chris is proffessional and is not in it just for the money, there is a reason for it.. what about trying cambridge diet, or lighter life?..you can lose very quickly on them if your determined..i used the cambridge diet and lost about 10lbs in first week...is there anything your doctor can give you to help you?..wishing you all the best anyway..you must be feeling so disappointed now..keep us posted on your progress. what have you got to get your BMI to for the op to be safe, and what is it now? x

hi mandy..you only have to have a small amount took out of your band before you fly, not all of it..it is only neeeded for flights of 4 hours or more.as you will just have had one or two fills then you wont have a great amount of pressure in there at any rate..so you may be ok without an unfill.im going away last day of sept, so will take advice on what wendy wants me to do..my flight is prob just under 4 hours. x

Hi ladies - glad u got ur fill OK! Wendy's lovely eh? God I hope she doesn't think I've been moaning about her! Like you say - just the tiniest fill can make all the difference. I hope this one gives u restriction without the horrid tightness! Enjoy ur frothy coffee!!

For info everyone - when we saw Wendy yesterday, we were talking about the forum and she said that anyone could phone her to discuss fills/aftercare and she would be pleased to talk to them and answer questions - no obligation at all, she is not a saleswoman and wouldn't be trying to pressure or persuade anyone to buy a package. Wendy really is lovely. I can defo recommend WLS to anyone. She's been doing this quite a long time and I trust her advice.

Anyway I am off to the in law's in a bit. Still can't decide whether or not to tell them or to just lie!! So I won't be on line for a few days. I tried some of the puree I had done for Harrison before and it hurts (very tasty lasagne though!!). He won't eat the baby food jars (another foodie!!) so I've got a good range of meals in the freezer for him, I'll be dipping into them too! I think I can get away with just having Soup at dinner time and then play along with it tomorrow.

I defo think I'll be having a small unfill a week on Sunday esp as we're going to Tenerife 2 weeks after that.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
