I have seen on a couple of other feeds people talking about Stalling where you don't see any movement in the scale or see movement in the wrong direction. I know for me I was in shock when i first got out of the hospital to see the weight come off so quick I lost about 30 lb the first two weeks then it slowed down to maybe 10 a week I know I am addicted to my scale I get on it about 5 times a day> i freaked out on week 6 when the scale didn't do Sh\it for a week I was getting a little depressed thinking that I did this surgery and it didn't work I'm going to get fat again. But then the scale acted right and i lost 7 lb in a week. what i want to know is what do you do when you stall? And how often do you stall? does anyone else have worries when they stall?

I'm in maintenance now, but it seems I stalled every 4-6 weeks - if not more. And yep - I freaked every time. I kept thinking my weight loss had stopped for good. But then, it'd start up again. No rhyme or reason. The only thing you can really do is stick to your program and stay off the scale for a few days if you have to.

Stalls are fairly common for those that undergo Sleeve surgery and rarer for those having RNY gastric bypass surgery. Someone on this site created the motto: Embrace the stall.

Let us talk a few basics. Stressing out about your weight should be avoided. If you are weighing yourself several times per day, then you are too stressed out. It might be beneficial to throw the scale out the window. This is because stress can cause people to gain weight. Some people limit their weight measurements to their doctor visits.

So the next thing is back to basics. The three most important elements after RNY gastric bypass surgery are to meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight.

Weight loss is achieved after surgery through meal volume control. You begin at 2 ounces (1/4 cup) per meal and gradually over the next year and a half increase the volume to 1 cup per meal. With this minuscule amount of food, it is next to impossible to meet your Protein daily requirements by food alone, so therefore you need to rely on supplements such as Protein shakes.
Since you are approaching 2 months post-op, you have a choice. Your meal volume is increasing. Therefore if you concentrate on consuming high protein meals, you have a very important option available to you. You can start to reduce your reliance on protein supplements. I went from 3 Protein Shakes per day in the beginning, down to 2, down to 1, and then when my meal volume increased to 1 cup per meal at a year and a half, I was able to completely offload my use of protein shakes.< /div>

This is important because protein shakes contain calories. If you can reduce your caloric intake, then you can end a stall. At least that was the approach that I used and it worked for me.

You lost 30 pounds in 2 weeks, and 10 pounds in 1 week and you stall. You go a week or two without loosing weight and you freakout, I don't understand. I've only lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks! And I'm upset it hasn't been more. Don't get me wrong I'm thrilled but hey i wish I lost 30 like you did. Relax and realize your body has gone through major changes, let it catch up and recover. Meanwhile rejoice in what you've accomplished.

I've only lost 10 pound in the month following surgery, but everyone has noticed "weight loss". Talk about a scale not moving, and becoming discouraged! I have a fear I've manged my body permanently over a whopping 10 pounds, when I lost 35 on my own in 2.5 months before surgery.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
