Constipation

Recommended Posts

Laxido for me for gallbladder surgery a few years ago (rectal fisures hurt!). It's a stool softener and 8 a day can be taken and works quickly. Always use a softer or you will be in some serious pain

I dealt with severe Constipation post surgery and for some time like three or more months. I tried all the tricks with adding colase, miraliax, laxatives. What eventually worked for me was Amatiza which is for IBS with Constipation. That along with increasing my Fluid intake did the trick. At about 6 months I became regular. I attribute some to dehydration but not 100%.

Prunes! Or, if you like, you can call them dried plums. I got a bag of organic prunes and on week 1 ate 1 in the morning, week 2 ate 2 in the morning and week 3 I ate 3 in the morning - which is where I am now. I also include bean dishes. I like to put 2 types of Beans together in a large bowl, add onion, peppers, feta cheese, halved organic little tomatoes and some low sugar balsamic dressing. I eat on this for several days. That and organic apples with Peanut Butter and veggies to add Fiber. Yes, I still focus on Protein first, but now that I can eat more, I can include these also. Constipation is no fun at all. Best of luck to you. Hope this helps.

I have definitely been dealing with horrible Constipation since my surgery. Unfortunately I already dealt with constipation prior to surgery because I take a long term pain med for chronic back pain. That already slowed me down tremendously, and it has now just gotten worse since my sleeve. I do take a stool softener every day, but I'm not sure how much it really helps. I usually have to take a laxative, and sometimes I even have to resort to an enema. I have tried Miralax, but it doesn't seem to work for me. I might try Benefiber, but I'm really trying to stay away from carbs. I talked to my doctor when I went for my first follow-up appt in the hopes that he would put me on something, but no such luck. He told me to increase my liquids which is certainly easier said than done! If things don't improve, I'll be asking him about it again when I go back in March.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
