It is really hard to tell fullness at that stage. My suggestion is to stop when you first question it. Then you can always have more if the feeling goes away. There is a little liberty with post op diet until you get on solid foods. I doubt you can eat enough to not lose weight. I wasn't given any quantities to measure and it worked fine.

I've never counted bites since they are not scientific and vary from person to person.

A better way to tell if you are full early on is burping, hiccups or a running nose.

You don't experience restriction on liquids on Soups, what you are feeling is swelling from surgery, so you should never really feel full.

Have your 2 ounces if you can, or whatever your program recommends, and stop.

There is no way to gauge your capacity early on, you have to measure and work to just meet goals.

I was told to only eat 2oz of Soup as part of my full liquid diet. Sometimes I feel really full afterwards and sometimes I don't

I am on full liquid but was not given a specific quantity. It's strange but I just sort of know when I am done, it's not a full feeling like I used to feel but there is some sort of trigger that I am feeling. I am probably eating between 1/4-1/2 cup of Soup and that is about where I get the feeling

Full liquid post Op by the way; not pre Op. But I have a few bites and I get a full or airbubble feeling. From reading yalls comments I'm gonna assume that's me being full. Lol dang that crazy

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
