October 2016-Surgery Date. Where are you now?

Recommended Posts

Congratulations @msw!

My 1 year was Oct 3rd. Hit goal around late August and feel terrific! Seriously a new life being lives here. I have been running and training for 5k races and someday, a 10k. After a year, I have learned how to manage my body when it comes to what I eat versus my activity, and have found that I actually have the controls in hand. I am maintaining my goal but will try to get more fit and toned, perhaps losing 5 more lbs but I'm really happy as I am!

Hope you are are well!!

Hi everyone!
Seems like we’re all doing good emoji2.png
I hit my goal and I’m trying to maintain now. So far, so good.
Starting and surgery weight: 292
Goal weight: 185
Today: 187

I had skin removal surgery and they took off the last 15lbs and got me to my goal in August.

I eat 5-6 times a day. 3 meals and 3 Snacks. I don’t stress about food and eat in moderation. Including sweets and carbs! I do limit gluten and dairy as much as possible as I have sensitivities to them (pre surgery condition).

I currently don’t exercise very much as I’m a full time university student, and work 20 hours a week running a psychiatry clinic, plus I run after my 2.5 year old and husband. Planning to step it up in January when I’m done school.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
