So I'm 6 days post op and I'm craving the weirdest things. I would kill for some tuna fish and avocados! Mashed together if possible. I also have been wanting cucumbers and pistachios. I thought I would be craving sweets and carbs but the food combinations coming up in my brain are unusual for me. I can't honestly say I've ever craved fish in my life but it's all I can think about most days. I thought maybe my Vitamins were low or something. Currently I'm getting 60 grams of Protein and all of my Vitamins down. I'm still 29 oz short of meeting my 64 oz a day goal. Today I'm working on that. Anyone else have weird cravings?

Starting about a week post op my brain was seriously messing with me!! Crazy dreams about food - foods that I hadn't eaten in years or even since childhood - so obviously not something I even liked all that much but suddenly my brain was telling me I wanted that. Recognize it for what it is - head hunger only - and fight the temptation. When I would wake up from a dream where I was eating something I'd just have a serious talk with myself, reassure myself and go back to sleep. If a craving hit me while I was awake - I found an activity to do to reset my brain. I had a solid week of intense head hunger and then it eased off. I'll still get weird cravings once in a while but I recognize it as just that, remind myself that my health is way more important and do the brain reset.

You are doing well with Vitamins and Protein - work on getting those Fluid levels up! Stay strong, you got this

1st week after the surgery when I tried chicken broth I hated it. I preferred eating mashed food. 2nd week when I was ready to go with soft foods, I did not like fish (which is my favorite), instead I ended up eating mashed baby carrots, which in a million years I would not have eaten other wise.

I am a coffee addict and the last coffee I consumed was one day before the surgery and one day during the 2nd week after the surgery. I hate it and since 3 weeks after the surgery I have not gone back to drinking it (except one day during my 2nd week).

I crave for vegetables and hate meat. I don't like eating egg as well. For now I am working on 2 spoons of GNC Protein shake that is about 50 gms per day. I hate drinking Water or consuming the multi-Vitamin tablet as well.

Well I'm very glad I'm not alone. My appointment is next Tuesday to have my blood drawn so hopefully all that looks great. I think I'm doing fantastic which worries me. I thought I would be crabby and all with not eating but I'm trying to take everything in stride.

@ up4challenge - Water is very difficult for me to get down. It feels like bricks. sugar free Powerade and Diet Snapple goes down so much easier. I never thought of doubling my Protein powder. I might try that in a couple weeks, thanks.

@@Mandybb I've tried drinking cold Water, it is much better (I can drink it without any problems) compared to room temperature Water. But I think cold water is not that good especially when I have to take tablets, so water is still a tough challenge. I've started with 3 spoons of Protein powder from today onwards.

All the very best with your blood test and doc's appointment :).

I had cravings really bad as well. . It was summer time and I remember my husband barbecued chicken and it drove me crazy. I craved raw veggies , salad and fruit as well, lol I had a lot of other cravings on the liquid diet stage. It was not until I was able to eat solids that they were not so bad anymore.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
