I had my surgery almost a month ago

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on the 6th of december and I've being stuck in 238 for almost two weeks. I'm in the gym for 3 hours every day and still in the same weight. I jogged yesterday and I know I'm losing inches because I had to buy a new pair of jeans size 14 (I was size 16-18) but the scale doesn't reflect anything and I don't want my surgeon think I'm not doing my best. Dows anybody have any suggestions?? I'm worried!!

You're experiencing the infamous Three Week Stall (do a search in this forum for more info). It usually starts the third or fourth week after surgery. It's normal, and nothing to be worried about, although it's hard not to think about it. Your body is trying to adjust and heal. It can last 2-3 weeks, or did for me, but you'll soon break out and be on your way again :) try not to stress. Your body will experience many of these little down periods where it needs to rest from loss and readjust. The scale may not show loss, but you will almost always see the inches fall away. I suggest taking measurements as a secondary way to track progress.

@@cokegal I know. I felt down when I step on the scale and says the same numbers: 238.8 I was jogging yesterday, I've being doing cardio everyday and nothing. So I'm about to do my research about what Ruth1ess says "The Three Week Stall"

Thank you for reminding me of the 3 week stall. I am almost 1.month out and I quit weighing myself. It would just disappoint me. I can tell that I am losing inches. My husband and some friends can tell especially in my face. Thank you!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
