I'm on day 2 of my pre op lover shrinking diet (Protein shakes, broth Jello and some veggies permitted) and I have never been so hungry in my life. I can barely function. I hope my family forgives me for what a bitch I am. How did you all get through it?

Honestly u will feel like crap but once you get surgery, the hunger subsides. Like the comment below, sugar free popsicles really do help. Also since you are allowed vegetables try a hidden valley greek yogurt seasoning pack and mix it with plain greek yogurt..it is not the same as ranch but tastes okay. Good luck

I feel your pain! The pre-op diet has been the worst part so far for me! I am 6 wks out from surgery now, but I vividly recall the 2 wks of liquids I had to do as a pre-op! Ugh! I was very hungry, irritable, and emotional (even more than usual- ha ha) After surgery, without the hunger, was a relief. If you are missing the crunch, like I did, chewing little ice pellets may help. (Celery if you can have it?? I couldn't.) I had to distract myself a lot, and avoid watching ppl eat whenever I could. (That also got better for me after surgery). I kept telling myself, 'I will chew again someday!' I wish I had magical answers for you. Hang in there!

My surgery is in 2 days, and my pre-op diet was 3 weeks long. Honestly, I found the first 4-5 days extremely hard, but it got quite easy afterward. In my experience, I stopped feeling hungry and the cravings slowly subsided. It's kind of nice not having to think about what to eat!

I've seen some people say that the pre-op diet is actually harder than after surgery, so if you can get through this, you can make it through anything!

OMG! I'm on day 5 of 14 day pre-op. Today I am literally ready to eat a picture of a burger :D Yesterday was not so bad, but I slept all day. I will keep pushing, but it is hard

I started My Vitamin Patches during the pre-op and it made a huge difference. Also the first week is the worst, then you get used to it. I made Soups with vegetables and bouillon since I was allowed both.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
