Question how did you guys get so big?? I was 105 and 5'2" tall then got pregnant and got up to 175 but two months after the baby was born I was at 142.5 and then with diet and exercise 115. I have still not reached my goal of being 109 again.

Hello Diana, I'm not sure if you plan on having anymore kids but if you are FYI the average weight gain during pregnancy is 25 pounds. You gained almost 50 pounds more then what is recommended by doctors. So my guess is you know how "us guys got so big". You are stupid, insensitive, & cruel. You probably shouldn't post anything else. We wouldn't want your bony butt to get sat on.

Yeah...that "inny" navel/belly button. You'd be amazed at the flecks of crud we find deep in there. But to everyone, no need to feel embarrassed, for whatever you've got has already been seen in the OR: there's nothing new under the sun. [Though, one time, I had to remove a good size crystal ball from... a woman's 'secret garden'. Yes. That was a first!!]
RE: Shaving...mostly now, patients should not do their own shave, to decrease the risk of nicks and infection. Your doctor will advise; but usually, not recommended for the patient to do.
Catheters: Since most of the cases don't last that long, urinary catheters are not inserted if they have you urinate just before taking you to the OR. But again, surgeon preference, and what they feel is your specific need. If you might be a complicated case, and/or will take longer, then, yes.

Huh?? Crystal ball?? Lol what do you mean I'm so curious

When I woke up from the operating table, the anesthesiologist and I were really cool with each other before surgery but I was so loopy I guess my chest was exposed when they sat me up and she goes cover her up and close the door so guys passing by don't see and I was high from the meds and said "I mean I know I have nice boobs but what she said!" and the people in the O.R. were laughing...lol my experience of being naked on the table.

I wish I was 115 pounds. I'm 5'7" and weight 280. I'm in the process of having sleeve surgery. I've had my 1st orientation and meet with the surgeon next month.

I used to be 110 pounds. But I was brutally raped. From that, I never wanted to be attractive to people for fear I would be raped again. I chose to get this surgery for my health and to move past the fear. The surgeon says that I will lose 65% of my weight if I follow the diet exactly.

I'm scared to death, but I'm tired of being this heavy. The doctor told me my body will remember being thin and will push itself back with this surgery. Here is to hoping.

First off, this is for bariatrics. If you're only 115 lbs and have never been higher than 175, why are you even on here? Secondly, everyone has different issues which caused their weight gain. Google it. Everyone here is already at their breaking point with their weight, to the point that they're considering extreme measures. They don't need you belittling them for being overweight and throwing your weights in their face. Go away. K, bye. [emoji1308]

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
