Sometimes it still shocks me.....

Recommended Posts

This week some friends from a previous job posted a picture that we all took together 3 years ago (9months before I had bypass). I am the one with dark hair o the right side hiding behind the guy with the santa hat and the lady with the reindeer antlers.

I was at my heaviest which was 315 lbs and barely able to work any longer. When my husband saw this post, he too said I never saw you were that big. It was quite shocking when I shared the photo with my family members.

I have not seen these folks in about 2.5 years and many of them have no idea that I lost all of my weight. A few are on Facebook and have seen my cover photo. Of course when they did many reached out, some with lots of questions.

Anyway, I thought I would share my now picture.....In 3 weeks I am having plastics to deal with loose skin. I am having a complete abdominalplasty with muscle repair, a breast lift with augmentation. I am looking forward to when the swelling will go down and I can repost after pictures then.

For now, here is an after picture.

Nothing personal...and I mean this in the best way possible so I hope I don't insult you but you are unrecognizable. I say that as someone who is also unrecognizable from how I looked pre surgery...and glad of it.

No offense taken whatsoever. I have seriously walked into a room full of people who know me and they did not know me. I had to tell them who I was so i get it.

I have learned to have my husband with me these days because if he is with me, they sometimes make the connection. Even then, he has had someone pull him aside and ask where his wife is. LOL.

I am ok with it.

I don't stand in front of cameras very often, when I do see a picture of me, I think "who is that fat woman?". I am looking forward to seeing pics of me now (I still don't stand in front of the camera often) and thinking "yeah, that's me" since I obviously don't recognize myself heavy, I'm hoping I recognize myself again when I look the way I do in my head again. LOL.

But seriously, you look fantastic!!

Thanks so much! I am actually terrible at updating my pictures. That one in my before and after pics is over a year old already.

I did update my profile picture today, mostly because I look a lot different than the one I had posted.

I am still not good about having my pictures taken.

I had to go peek at your before and after pics as well. First, you were very beautiful even before your transformation. After...vavavoom! You look fabulous!

I love this post and I adore you! Even though we basically had our surgeries at the same time, I've always looked up to you for your great, no nonsense but kind advice. I am also so very proud of how far you've come and how much you've overcome! You're my hero :)

PS

You look FABULOUS!!

@@Babbs

Right back at you! I absolutely love how straight forward and honest you are and always look for your posts. I am usually sitting here yelling at my laptop "you tell em Babbs!"

On top of that you are one hot tamale! I still love that sassy haircut!

I have been growing mine out but it's annoying me so I am thinking of going short again. Leave it to us women, we can never make up our minds.... Ha

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
