Minnesota Folks-Where are you?

Welcome. I wish you the best of luck on your WLS journey. It can be a roller coaster ride, but I think you will find it well worth it. Good luck.

Colesd1,

Hey thanks for the welcome and encouragement. Right now the ride is still in the starting gate... the first hill is coming up...

I am just starting all this! I went to a seminar at Unity and then 2 weeks ago I met with a nurse...apparently I need to gain 10 more lbs before my insurance will accept me. I have medica. Nice to see some Minnesota people on here, and you all are doing great!

My best friend had RNY with Dr. Lederer about 5 years back, she loved him!

Thank you! That's what I was thinking as well! I used to work for an insurance company, so I have since it take just a couple of days as well! I hope that mine goes fast!

So, Mikey how fast did you get the word back from your insurance company?

Ok, I'm still in the process of checking out all of the areas on the site.

So, I was banded Aug. 28, 2007 at Methodist by Dr. Jones. Couldn't be happier with the results. I'm down almost 90 lbs since and been working my butt off at the gym. I live in Shakopee with my DW, daughter and our dog.

Nice to see others from MN on here.

Well, I am actually waiting on my clinic to send in the paperwork to insurance. Which is getting very frustrating! They have had it since this past Tuesday...

Mikey,

So, how is it going? I thought I would drop you this note for a support group in your area;

Virginia WLS Group

SMDC Clinic

1101 9th Street N / 2nd floor lobby

Virginia, Minnesota

Meetings are third Monday of every month from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

It is not going so great. I am waiting on my clinic to send the paperwork in, which they have had in their office since Tuesday. I feel like they are ignoring me, as I have been calling them everyday, and they dont return my calls! I feel like they are prolonging this process! I have been in this process since June, and I really want to have the surgery in February!

I called my insurance today and they are reviewing my paperwork! They said to allow 10 business days, but I hope I know before then!!!

Congratulations!! I bet you know faster than that. My doctor's office told me it could take 2 weeks to know if I was approved, but I found out in 3 days. How exciting.

Yesterday my insurance came through, so now I can look at scheduling the surgery. First off, three weeks ago I needed to send for some records from my previous medical facility. Once received the paperwork would be submitted to the insurance company. So, like I said I got the go ahead and in only three weeks.

Now today I have a date..... March 13th... no its a thursday.:):wink2::(

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
