Cravings after 12 days

Recommended Posts

I am a liquid diet and it is killing me I haven't checked my weight since surgery but I am sure I have lost another 15-20 pounds. I am having a hard time getting a whole Protein Shake down. I am tired of drink chicken, turkey and beef broth. Does anyone have any suggestions? I had chicken Soup was able to stomach a small chicken chunk after chewing for awhile.

Well... I had the same issue. The Protein shakes I purchased from the doctor... ugh. I can't get passed the smell let alone the taste. Someone suggested adding a bit of Peanut Butter Protein powder, but it didnt work. At some point now i will try them again, but maybe double the amount of Fluid for just have the package. So after only 5 days on thick and thin fluids, I had to go back to Atkins shakes which I could tolerate, cream Soups, Fairfield milk, cottage cheese, and baby food. Then I tried the Healthy Wise Protein Soups and was able to stomach them a lot easier.

Consult with your doctor and listen to your new tummy.

Premier Protein are by far the best tasting Protein shakes!(in my opinion) they don't have that gnarly protein after taste..

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
