1 day post-op fluid question?

Recommended Posts

I am drinking 1 oz Protein Water and water every 15 mins. This will give me 40 g of protein and 48 oz of Fluid the first two days. post-308712-14825253014452_thumb.jpgThe doctor wanted me to do this the first 48 hours before starting 3 weeks of liquid (shakes, broths, etc).

Is it safe to quit measuring and just keep taking small sips without the measuring cup? I am still hydrated from the surgery (urine is still clear) but my mouth is extremely dry.

If the bottle say 12 oz. and your Water glass say 8 then how many of those you consume will help you track.

I track everything because it is easy for me to under estimate how many calories I eat.

I also track everything I have a 22 oz glass and use that at least three times. I have found that my mind can make up things like I drink more than I do and eat less than I really do. ugh.

Right now I tally everything in 8 oz increments. But on Monday, I get to drink 12 oz pre-made Protein shakes. The only problem is that my Protein Shakes are only 11 oz. So I'll just use that for the shakes and 8 oz for most everything else.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
