I'm 8 weeks out and I get about 700 - 750 calories. My NUT has us eating 5 times a day - every 3 - 4 hours.

I have a Protein shake in the morning on the way to work, then at least 3 meals with 2 oz Protein (all I can eat right now) and maybe a multigrain or veggie serving at two of those meals and then a glass of Fairlife milk (13g protein) to end my day.

Hey.

thats cool. i do what works for me i eat between 800-1000 cals per day depends if i am training or not. i snack also on fruit or a yogurt and crackers with low fat cheese if i want. also i do have chocolate and im dropping weight like crazy. This journey is so so individual i do what works for me and what works for me isnt for some people. i know im on the right track because i am losing alot but its good to find out other peoples journey and what they do.

My program indicates that the final phase of the diet or phase 5 is our lifetime diet and you should be eating around 1000 calories a day. If you exercise heavily then perhaps a bit more. Remember calories = energy so if you eat less calories you will have less energy. The goal is a healthy balance. Listen to your body and be patient with it. I am at 800 calories after 2 weeks. I have had no issues. Many people take a lot longer to reach that level.

Im around 1000 calories at 6 weeks out. I'm losing and feeling really pretty good! I feel a lot better now that I'm eating more.

If I were really low on calories, I'd add in some cashews or something like that. High in calories, low in volume. My new tummy is not picky at all which is why is so easy to get in around 1000.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
