Chickie you are right. I had a check up today with Dr. and he said no problem with the fill on Friday since it is the first one and I lost the majority of the 18lbs during the first 2 weeks. I wore regular clothing and even kept my suit jacket on!

My story is exactly like sweetpea's. I was banded on 8/1 and went in at 4 weeks having lost 18 lbs and my Dr. would not give me a fill. Now over the last 3 weeks I have only lost 1 lb. I am going in on Thursday 9/20 and hopefully he will give me a fill. I have a VG band that holds 10ccs and he said he would put in around 3 - 4 ccs. I can and am eating way more that I should and if I had the willpower to stop eating when I should, I would not be in this situation. So...I am very excited for my first fill. I know it may not be the miracle fix, but psychologically I need something to get me out of this bandster HELL!

Wow this is just what I needed to hear the day before my first visit, I was banded on Aug. 24 and I was so certain that I would be getting my first fill tomorrow. It just scares me to think that I won't. See, I feel the same way, I'm slowly eating as much food before the band it feels like there is no restriction and for him not to give me a fill tomorrow I think I might re-arrange his office. So how much did you lose?

Congrats on the 18lbs! That is fantastic! If you work your loss out over the 7 weeks, you lost 2.71lbs a week! That is awesome!

I am glad it all went well for you!

everyone is different but i was banded in march and lost 30lbs in less than a month. after that and right up to now i have been losing about a pound a week. my doctor did give me a fill 8 weeks after on my 1st visit back. actually he told me not to wait so long if i didnt feel restriction. i agree with others, although its frustrating you want to see instant results, it takes time just like it did to gain it. 1-2lbs a week is the best for you!!!:clap2:

they'll be times when you wont lose and times when you gain a little. you may be stuck on the same weight for what seems an eternity but your body will kick start and shed it. eat right and exercise. start your new life and take responsibility. you'll love yourself more for it!!!:biggrin1:

Whoa now I am worried too as I go for a fill on September 27th which is just 6 weeks post op, I had surgery Aug 14th. I did email Elsa in Monterrey and she felt I was ready for a fill according to the questions that she asked me. But I too have lost 19 pounds, I have to take a flight to the doctor that does the fills and this isn't cheap either and I would hate for him to say no when I get all the way there. I do know though that I am eating more and not staying full either so will definetely point that out.

Thank you for all the advise and news! Penny

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
