So sorry for your loss...we have lost two dogs and I still think about them and miss them years later. We have 4 dogs now and I dread the day they will be gone. Two are geriatric at this point. Hoping you feel better soon.

Venting to all that would understand me, I want to indulge in food (something good, not puree potatoes) and I can't. I had to put my first dog/down first pet ever down today, I loved him more days than I was mad at him. My bacon buddy, always gave him half a piece of what I was eating so I wouldn't eat the whole thing. Lightning is his name, 9 year old deaf great Dane. Putting him down was hard, never did that before. It was peaceful but tonight the house seems different. So many emotions and all I want to do is eat to comfort me. I know I can't. Omgosh...I am so sorry...I understand how you are feeling...on 3/8/14 I had to put my dog Zeus down...he was only 7...he had bladder stones and needed a procedure that was to cost $1100...before I cold set the procedure up my husband and his crack addiction ate up the money I had set aside...Zeus' body went into shut down...his kidneys, liver...he had a seizure and could not get up...I loved him more then life itself ????post-307194-14813625856213_thumb.jpg

Just remember - nothing you eat or drink will actually make you feel better or bring you comfort. Your loss and pain can't be stopped by food. Only time can heal your broken heart. Remember the good times with your sweet dog and always know you did what was best for him in the end. My thoughts and prayers! Food can't help - it will only make things worse.

So sorry Hun, and I understand everything your saying and feel your pain. I had to put my Yorkie to sleep earlier this year. I'm 2 mo out of surgery and I realize how much I use to use food to bury my emotions. I finally got a new baby, Chinese crested puffball, and she's keeping me company in this new journey. Good luck to you and many ???????? thoughts. I drive a truck all over the US and I have very little emotional support except for this little furball!!

Well, if it's not normal then I'm crazy as a loon because every dog I've lost has left a hole in my heart and hurt like I lost my best friend. Bernie, Samson, Luke, and Mesa....my fur babies I've lost, ever loyal in my best and worst times. I am so sorry for your loss, but also so glad for you that you took a painful thing, recognized it for what it was and haven't just headed straight for food. As surely so many on this forum do, I totally understand your desire to turn to something to eat for comfort.

Hang in there, cry it out if you need to, exercise it out, do something kind for yourself, or ask someone else to do something kind for you. Just remember to keep food in the category where it belongs, just fuel for the body, and work through what you're feeling in a healthier way. Like the saying goes, that which doesn't kill us, can only make us stronger.

Completely normal. My doggies are literally like my children, I would do anything to try and protect them. And up until I started this journey they both have been eating better than I. They have better health and dental plans than I. My fiancé and I even drop them off at daycare. If something happened I would more than be devastated. I am certain I understand your grief! I do wish you a speedy recovery. Take this time to test out other hobbies, take a painting class, learn a new skill. I am also mostly certain your doggy would want you to be happy! Get out there and make 'em proud!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've lost a few Foster dogs and I feel your pain. What about seeing if a local rescue has an event and go get yourself some snuggles from a dog that needs you just as much as you need a hug?

When we lose a furbaby, they take a part of our heart with them. I'm so sorry for your loss. My Tigger was my best friend and I had to walk her to the Rainbow Bridge 3 years ago at age 13 & I still miss her every day.

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
