3 1/2 weeks post-op, vomiting every day

Recommended Posts

11/7/16 RouxNy, on pureed stage of diet ....... I was doing great, had no problems until the start of my 3rd week... 1st day I took my chewable Calcium and within 1/2 hour I was in agony and eventually throwing up, next day my morning too my morning medication, I was spitting up and throwing up for an hour and 1/2, next day I had scrambled egg to be sure something was on my stomach ahead of time and then I was sick for 3 hours. Called my doctors, they told me to stop taking Vitamins & supplements for a few days, just to take my omeprozole (but go back to opening it up and putting into something, rather than swallow) I felt great yesterday until I ate some lunch, which was a pureed Bariatric recipe and again sick for hours. Today I took steps back and went back to shakes and Water, I was fine most of day. After taking omeprozole in a bit of shake, I began to feel sick. It brews until it spews and this lasted for hours and hours. Please let me know what you think. Has anyone else experienced this. What do you think is making me sick? Thank you in advance for your input & help.

I would call your surgeons office again.

I do know that sometimes RNY patients need to take a step back and go more slowly. Other than that, I know some folks develop a stricture that can cause some of this.

Dont be afraid to call them as much as you need to.

Sorry you are feeling so badly.

I had my rny 10 years ago and generally have no issues. I do still dump usually with sugar which is the hardest thing for me to eat. I do have problems with shakes. I know they keep the sugar real low but they are all so super sweet tasting and if I am not really slow in drinking it It will make me sick. I cut it with Water which helps some but I am getting the unflavored kind and mixing it in Soups and with broth. doing much better that way.

Like djmohr, one of my first thoughts was....stricture. I had two of them - one at 4 weeks out and one at 8 weeks out (they usually happen within the first 3 months after surgery)

Like djmohr, one of my first thoughts was....stricture. I had two of them - one at 4 weeks out and one at 8 weeks out (they usually happen within the first 3 months after surgery)

I also had my bouts with Strictures. Mine started around the end of Aug, my surgery was in July. I went back to my Dr for a check up and the PA stated that they should do an ENDOSCOPE. I told him that I thought it was just me taking one bite to much. Because the food seemed to set on top of my pouch and then it went down slowly. At Thanksgiving I fixed a meal for us. I couldn't even hold down Water. BOOM had my ENDO and dialation, In Nov 2013, Dec 2013 Jan 2014 July 2014. With my last being done Jan 2015!! So far I have been great. Oh yea, I had an Ulcer plus they removed 2 or 3 Staples that had come undone and were in my pouch. Yes, it was hard. But if you ask me if I would have it done again? I would say with everything in me IN A HEARTBEAT!!

I was exactly the same, they changed my anti sickness and everything settled now back to pureed foods with the occasional small lumps added. Best of luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
