Has anyone that has had the sleeve have issues with extra skin? What did you do to help with it? I am afraid that after all is said and done in going to have sagging skin everywhere...anyone else have these thoughts?

Some people have lots off lose skin some have non. Depends on age, genetics, nutrition, hydration...

Doctors usually say it doesn't help but it can't hurt so make sure you take vit c and bit e supplements, drink plenty of Water and use a high quality moisturizer.

Almost everyone who loses 100 pounds or more has loose skin, no matter how they lose the weight.

Go to YouTube and search "skin flicks" under WLS, RNY, WSG. People strip down and show you their skin. Most of these people are young and they still have it, especially on the stomach. You don't notice it when they are dressed.

Many people have plastic surgery after weight loss. I don't think I would ever do that but it is an option.

I should add, most women lose their boobs too. Arms and legs can look a lot better if you work out with weights as you lose, the muscle expands to fill the loose skin somewhat. It really depends on where your fat is.

I have lost around 100 pounds 7 times in the past 20 years and the only place I have lose skin is on my thoughts and that's been for a few years.

And at age 64 my boobs still pass the "pencil test".

Sigh... it's when you stick a pencil under you boob to test if it falls down or stays under the flab. You know, THE pencil test! Ask your wife.

I did! Her response was that boobies that look like oranges in socks can hold a gross of pencils!

Put me in the class with A LOT of excess skin. I started my weight loss at 688+, WLS at 433. As of last weeks weigh in, I am down to 358. Plastic surgeons estimate I have between 65-80 pounds of excess skin, which will cost 100K USD to remove. It would be done in 3-6 surgeries in staged succession. Sadly my insurance carrier doesn't cover it, so I am raising money through Go Fund Me (if you're interested in helping me, PM me).

It is a constant daily battle and struggle to deal with the excess skin. Showering, drying, creams, lotions, etc. All to help keep the skin in as top, clean shape as I can to ward off irritation, but sadly failing at it.

I've heard and seen people use spanks and compression garments, but with me there is so much the garments don't really do much.

Good luck!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
