Stomach capacity-3 months out-Little restriction seems like

Recommended Posts

Hi:

I had my sleeve on 09/06/2016. Obviously stomach capacity was very tight in the beginning and it gradually started loosening. Progressively my stomach capacity now seems to be pretty decent three months out. I am experiencing a bit of a slow down in the speed of weight loss. But keeping at it. Problem is that:

1) I can down 10 to 12 ounces of food no problem if I want to.

2) I can gulp down a Protein Shake no issues.

3) I feel like can slowly eat soft mushy food non-stop. II have not tried it yet though.

4) I do feel slight hunger if I have not eaten. ( I work out nearly two hours a day)

What have your individual experiences? Is it because I am a male-does gender matter?

Please chime in.

-J

Stick w the protocol- Protein first, no drinking for 30 min before and after, etc. and see if that changes things. You tend to learn how to game the system as time passes- don't let your intelligence lead to your failure

Stop gulping and start taking small bites of Protein dense foods. My instructions are to eat over a 30 minute window max. If I feel satisfied prior to that, then stop.

I am 5 mths out and when I eat fast, I eat more because my stomach doesn't get a chance to signal my brain. I do drink Water a little fast, but not food. It takes concentration and practice.

10 to 12 ounces of what?

At a year I can only have 4 ounces of dense Protein.

I can eat endless amounts of things with high liquid contents. Like I could have 16 ounces of yogurt if I didn't think it was disgusting.

Are you eating 10 to ounces of dense Protein or something else?

If you eat things that don't trigger restriction. You won't feel restriction...

I can eat an entire box of Cheeze-Its... but I can only eat two chicken wings.

P.S. That only happened once and I never brought Cheeze-Its into my house again.

Even if you can eat 12oz of food you shouldn't of you want to keep losing weight. If you eat slowly , as you were probably instructed, you will feel full before you down 12 oz of food.< /p>

Do you keep track of your calories, Protein and clear fluids?

Thank you folks for your responses. In an effort to go vegetarian a bit, I significantly reduced the meat from my diet and perhaps that was the mistake.

I'm a bit more than two months out, after getting between 2 and 4 oz of food in, I'm pretty uncomfortable. Can't imagine 10 or 12!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
