Anyone else had this pain?

Recommended Posts

I had the most awful pain last night! I plan to talk to my Dr about it on Tuesday (my first fill), but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this and what it might be.

Last night I was a little hungry so I had a boiled egg, which I've done several times with no problems. Then I had to take my meds with a little bit pudding, as usual. I went to bed about an hour later, laid on my left side (my port and stomach side) for just a little bit and I started feeling pressure on my stomach. I rolled over onto my right side and I got the most awful pain! The worst of it was in the middle of my tummy, right below my sternum and in my back. I felt like my whole belly was full and I was either going to vomit or needed a really good burp. :sick I started walking and had a heating pad on my tummy, which helped. After about 10 minutes, it just all of a sudden went away and I was fine.

WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS THAT? :D Was it a blockage some how? Was it because I laid on my left side? It was very scary, I can tell you that. Anyone else had this?

Actually I had it the night before I had my first fill. I was told that it was probably just a really bad case of gas. I had a lot of inservices during that week so I did nothing but sit on my butt all day and didn't have a whole lot of time to walk. It went away in a few days. I had a little issue with it this morning, but nothing like the first time it happened.

If I feel something like that I know I am restricted...that is how I feel when I am too full. But everyone is different.

I have found that just because I can eat one thing one day doesn't mean I can eat it the next day.....

Good luck.....

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
