Hi I'm Miss Dani from Richmond,TXI am currently doing the pre certification requirements for my Insurance (Cigna PPO) I just discovered this site tonight while I was at work. I have been overweight all of my life and I feel that this would improve the quality of my life. Anyway this is a good website for information.

Hello! I got my band 4/17/07. It has not been a walk in the park, but it is working. I'm down 35# in 5 months. Keep in touch. It will seem forever while you are waiting for you surgery, but it will come. Then you will be on your way to a new you.

God bless!

Hi Judy,

How was your experience with your banding done on 4/17/07? I am currently in the stages of getting approved for my surgery. I have had my blood work, sleep apnea test and seen the nutritionist. I just need to have my psychological appointment and then get my date. I need to loose a total of 50 pounds. Not alot to many people but sure a continued struggle and battle to me. On the fence about the surgery and torn, scared. This website is great but the horror stories really scare me. Keep in touch.

I'm probably not the one you need to talk too. I have had a lot of unusual complications. I'm having one now that no one has ever heard of, & I have to get an unfill on Monday.

For the most part, the band is great, but, I only know od 1 person that said it was a walk in the park. That he never had a problem.

Hello, I am just filling forms out for my doctor. I have cigna, so I think I have to see a doctor for six months for medically supervised weight loss. Will people with cigna let me know what they had to do. Did any of their doctors, just fill out the form or do you have to go for six months. I love this forum, I have learned so much. Thanks Joyce

mammawxfive - I have cigna insurance and just finished the 6 month Dr supervised diet. And no - my Dr didn't just fill out the form. I was VERY disappointed when I found out I had to do it. I mean c'mon - I had already been on every diet known to mankind, lost and regained hundreds of pounds, and now you want me to wait 6 more months after I've made this life-changing decision?!? But you know what - with all the testing we have to have before surgery, scheduling appointments and trying to schedule them around work, waiting for results of the testing - took 6 months anyway. So I looked at the diet as ONE MORE THING I HAD TO DO before I could begin my journey. And finding this site has been a GREAT help! Gathering information, getting to know people in the same boat, and many times - being highly entertained, the 6 months weren't all that bad!

Best of luck to you!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
