Denver Lap Band Doctor

Recommended Posts

I am moving to Denver this week. I had the Lap-Band surgery about a year ago. Well, now I need to find a new doctor, one that I can go to if I were to have any problems or need another fill. Any suggestions?

Hi- I'm a newbie (banded Sep 5th), but I live in Parker, CO (south Denver) and have looked around for some options. This is what I have found.

1. FillCenterUSA in Thorton- but I have heard that the doc is brand new to fills and has only done a handfull. Fill Centers USA - Weight Loss Surgery - Bariatric Surgery - Gastric Bypass Surgery - Lap Band Surgery Information and Support

2. Dr K is here is Denver and will do follow up and fills for patients that were not originally his... he does not use flouro for fills.

Lap Band Surgery in Denver Colorado | Lap Band Surgeon in Denver | Gastric Band Surgery Denver | Bariatric Surgery

Wish I could give you some first hand experience but that's what I need also..

Thank you so much. Eventually, I will have to go. I got banded here in Texas, and just spent a week in Denver. Well, while I was up there, my band was REALLY tight, because of the altitude. My doctor here in Texas told me that's normal, and that I may have to get some liquid taken out once I move. So, I know I will have to find a doctor soon I'm sure. Thank you so much and I will look into both options!

What does it mean he does not use flouro in his fills? Is that a good thing? I am also new to Denver and I came accross Dr. K, that is who I am planning on going to when I need a fill. I have his address and contact info. if you need it.

I have not had a fill yet, but it's my understanding that fluero is the x-ray they use to see if everythings going down ok. Dr Ortiz recommended it but it does not seem to be available here in Denver...

Thanks, I wondered wha that meant, actually when I was in Chicago I thought I wanted it done that way but my doctor from Northwestern convinced me that it could be done well without that, I tried it and my band has been working for me, I have been restricted well, they skip that step but it still works out, you just have to learn how tight you want them to fill it and help guide them appropriately. I think I am going to go to Dr. K now that I am in Denver, I will let you know how it goes. Hope all is well!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
