My sleeve surgery is November 21st

Hello everyone! This is my first time posting on a forum of any kind. I want to make sure I am doing things right, and looking for help and support. I have done a lot of things on my own, without success; now I want to give myself the best chance of success by reaching out to others.

My two-week pre-op diet ends on Sunday. It has been a real struggle, mostly smelling the foods others are preparing and eating. I also had to help prep for a birthday party, I even had to bake the cupcakes! It was torture the entire time. I really had a tough time taming my urge to eat.

The first week of my pre-op I was allowed to eat 4 Oz of lean meat. I tried to teach myself to chew my food more thoroughly than is my tendency. Anyone have any good advice on how to make sure you do this? I know I have a while before I will even be able to consume solids, but this will be one of my bigger issues since I have always been more of a "mash, mash, swallow" type.

Another big issue of mine is that I am not very good at prepping. I have a tendency to go for convenience. Any convenient food items you can purchase and stick in your car or purse?

That's it for now, wish me luck on Monday!

Good luck to you both @@tran and @sherelle28441. But I was told to cut my food up the size of an eraser head of a pencil in the beginning and that did help. Because I'm a month post-op bypass today and I eat slow anyway but I did have 1 incident when I was able to eat hot Cereal and I chose grits and I only ate like 2-3 spoons in 15 min(it should've taken like 30min -an hr) and it got logged in my chest and I couldn't breathe!???? I ended up having to throw up(not a good feeling)! Take your time! And good Luck again????

Using baby/toddler utensils for everything helps as well! Even starting in your clear liquid phase. It slows you down dramatically and only lets you put a tiny bit of food in!

You quickly become acclimated in order to avoid the pain.

I've heard to chew each bit about 20 times, pretty much getting it as mushed as can be.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
