This is getting ridiculous

I'm almost 7 months post-op and I havent lost any weight since September. I exercise and stay on my surgeon's plan 99% of the time. I guess my clothes are fitting differently, but I never took any measurements.

I'm down 114 overall and 70 since surgery, so I hope this isn't it. I have at least 60 more lbs to lose.

Other than "embracing" it, how do I break this stupid stall?

It's not a stall if you're losing fat and gaining muscles. You need to start measuring (arms, chest, waist, hips, legs) and track that every month. The clothing fitting looser is a sign that things are working the way they're supposed to, but if you're only using the scale to check in on your progress, then you're probably getting pretty frustrated. ;)

Fat is more bulky than muscle, so a pound of fat gone and replaced with leaner muscle means you're losing what you need to lose and gaining lean muscle mass.

You need to reframe what it means to get successful - it isn't just straight up weight loss. You gaining muscle in place of fat is WONDERFUL. The more fat you lose and replace with muscle the better your body is going to operate and the actual weight loss (when it does start happening again) will go even better than before.

Just keep monitoring your Protein intake, watch the calories and carbs and drink your Water. Get your exercise in and if you haven't started seeing the scale start moving down again soon, try adding in a few hundred extra calories of Protein and complex carbs (like Beans with a small portion of brown rice) to see if you might be needing a bit more fuel to get your metabolism kick started.

Are you still journaling everything you are eating every day? How many carbs are you eating in a day? Is there anything in particular that you are intaking that you feel might be causing the stall (e.g., alcohol, sugar, not enough Protein, etc.)?

I had RNY surgery and I transitioned into the Maintenance phase at 7 months. Sleeve patients are different. They lose weight at a slower rate. But they often lose weight over a longer period of time, sometimes 2 years.

One thing to do now at this stage is to assess your Protein intake. Your Protein requirement is met by a combination of the protein from your meals combined with the protein from your supplements (Protein shakes, protein bars). Since your meal volume is beginning to increase, that also means that the amount of protein from meals is increasing, especially if you concentrate on consuming high protein meals. Therefore you could be able to reduce your reliance on supplements and the calories they contain. I went from 3 Protein Shakes a day, down to 2, then 1 and finally zero when my meal volume increased to 1 cup per meal at a year and a half. This allowed me to break the few stalls that I encountered.

What you eat, how many calories, Protein, carbs, really helps people help you with suggestions.

I have lost 170 pounds but sometimes I have issues where I gain and lose the same 3 lbs for weeks. Sometimes it is because of what I am eating (goodbye flat bread pizza) and sometimes it is just my body fighting back and freaking out over my lower weight. I have a way to break my stalls when they happen if it is food base but if my body is fighting back nothing works.

So what are you eating? In detail. Calories and grams.

I was stalled for 6-7 weeks. Almost did my head in!

I followed advice re mainly Protein meals. Have been doing it for a week, and today my scales finally moved!

Finally lost a pound! Hooray!

I also got Bowel Clear (has many herbs), and this relieved my Constipation due to very high Protein food.

Many of us who were sleeved 8 months ago have noticed that the honeymoon period is over, and that weight loss can stall for longer times at this stage.

At least it it still going down, but at a much slower pace.

      Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

        I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
